I know that was talked about before, at this it’s not funny. FA should of started already, it’s giving me indigestion.

This is a good call if you're referring to Bojan Bogdanovic of the Pacers. He made $10.5M last year. He put up 20/5/2/1 per 36 on .613 TS including .425 3PT. Not as good as Tobias on D but a better shooter on offense.

Get him for $15M and then sign Danny Green for $12M instead of maxing out Tobias.

Use the remaining $5M of cap to sign a backup center like Robin Lopez.

Again convince Redick to come back for vet min this year with a big balloon payment in a year.

Sign a guy like Carroll for the Room Ex.

Sign Jeremy Lin for the vet min. Maybe TJ for the same.

Sign Thayok and Shake to fill out the bench.

http://www.shamsports.com/capulator?id=2176737205d1039ef64093118716276

PG Green | Lin | McConnell
SG Butler | Redick | Smith
SF Bogs | Thybulle | Shake
PF Simmons | Carroll | Thayok
CE Embiid | Lopez | Bolden

This team is more cost effective and even better than if we kept Tobias. By letting him go we can sign Bojan Bogdanovich, Danny Green, and Robin Lopez. That's an upgrade. We also avoid the luxury tax this year, allowing us to go over each of the next 2 years without worrying about the repeater.

Based on that, if Tobias asks for over $27M to start, I'm fully prepared to let him walk. He's just not that good. We could replace his production with Bogs for $15M/yr in all likelihood.

Bojan will likely get 22-25M.

Getting JJ for the veteran minimum is a pipe dream.

We could go up to $20M to still leave $12M for Danny Green if we let Tobias walk. Just means we'd have to find a backup center for the vet min, which is fine. There will be guys available.

It's not a big deal. If he doesn't agree we let him walk. It is with a promise that we give him something like $16M next year w/full Bird Rights. So in total he gets two years ~$20M.

The Spurs did this exact thing with Manu Ginobili a couple of years ago.

You tank. And I’m not kidding either. We’d be so screwed, we’d have no chance... none, to compete for a title. It’s back to finding 3rd/4th stars and our only way would be the lottery.

For Sixers to tank effectively, they would have to place Joel & Ben on massive minute restrictions which would result in both leaving

It’s not happening

You hire a competent GM and give them autonomy to make their own moves and not trade countless assets for 2 stars on expiring contracts.

Of course it isn’t, which is why we’d be screwed. If they both leave, which won’t happen, I think our chances of ever winning a title with Embiid are over.

If both don't return, you go after Russell or Brogdon, but it's pretty important that you land one of them.

Have not really posted on free agency, but now that it's almost here....

This is based on Embiid and Simmons being here...personally, I'm done with Ben..I'd be pleasantly surprised if we saw significant improvement....but let's go with Embiid and SImmons being here.....

1) I would offer Butler and Tobias 4 year max offers...I don't expect either will accept.

2) I would offer Redick a 2 year, 20 mil deal.

3) Assuming at least one of three are gone and we're not getting any of the big free agents, I would consider the following realistic targets that would cost more than the mid level:

Bojan Bogdanovic
Terrence Ross
Danny green
Nikola Mirotic
Jeremy Lamb
Patrick Beverly
Marcus Morris
Wes Mathews

For backup Center:

Dewayne Dedmon
Robin Lopez
Nerlens Noel

Players to consider for the mid level exemption:

Seth Curry
Wayne Ellington
Markieff Morris
Austin Rivers
Rondae Hollis Jefferson
Jeff Green
Rodney Hood
Justin Holiday
Cory Joseph
Trevor Ariza

If that was even a possibility in EBs mind, why would we select a decidedly labeled “role player” in this draft?

not to go full emo but if both guys bail..then it just wasn't meant to be lol.

we have the money. we have the great situation.

if they leave then its something out of our control or something internal that neither guy is good enough to dictate changes anyway.

I'd be shocked if BOTH guys leave. If only because once one does leave the other will get the MAAAAAx ASAP and I still doubt they turn that down...especially since it would be their own stats will also improve in that scenario.

Hello?

Bojan is much more athletic than Tobias and a way better defender.

I've had a crush on Bojan for a while now and would love love love to pick him up.

A 30 year old Bojan is more athletic than a 26 year old Tobias?

It's not a possibility in Brand's mind. The question was phrased as if we(the posters) were playing GM, and if I were GM, I'd tank and make up injuries for Simmons and Embiid every other week and try and get lottery picks. Because we aren't winning titles using our cap space on Malcolm freaking Brogdon.

But there is no chance in hell the Sixers actually do this.

And much more athletic?? Huh?
Bojan would be a great, cheaper alternative to Tobi (if he walked) but let’s not exaggerate with the comps here.

You need to let 2 of JJ Jimmy Tobias walk before you get significant money under the cap.
