Good interview with Jarrell Brantley:

Oops. Already been posted. Sounds like he has a good head on his shoulders though. I am cautiously optimistic that this guy could turn in to a successful development project.

It feels like adding insult to injury that the (former) Jazz pick ended up being used to draft Bazley... :nonono:

As for the rest of the Jazz's draft picks, I'm guessing the Jazz brass didn't see a huge discrepancy in the level of available prospects from about 20 to 60, which is why they didn't bother moving up much and opted to operate in the 50's range. I guess they thought the talent drop wouldn't be that big.

I didn't follow draft prospects that much this season and I don't know any of the players we ended up picking, so I can't say the Jazz did well or badly. From the quick look I've taken at those prospects, they look fine, I guess. Maybe one of them will stick. At least the Jazz tried to increase their odds at finding an NBA talent by actually using their 2nd round pick and even acquiring two additional 2nds this time, which I endorse. I suppose it takes the Jazz being strapped for cap space in order to be forced to do so, but at least this time they actually did it.

The real decision the Jazz FO is making is between Continuity, Cap Flexibility, and Cash Considerations.

That's what happens when you don't constantly trade your picks away like they are diseased rats...

Who trades diseased rats? Is that a financially viable business?

Even though they traded him, I found it interesting that the Jazz draft Bazley, after they lost out on getting him in the G-league draft (Bazley pulled out), where he would have almost certainly been the #1 overall pick (the Jazz drafted #1).

Of the three 2nd round picks, the only one I see much in is Wright-Foreman. Jury is still out, as I don't claim to know tons about any of them, and you really can't expect a lot from 2nd rounders.

Was hoping the Jazz would have moved up to get Bol Bol, simply because "why not" once he dropped? He could easily be a huge bust, but in the 2nd round, taking a flyer on a lottery talent with question marks isn't a bad gamble. Oh well.

I love it when those kids are overwhelmed with emotion after they get drafted. Even at the end of the second round. It shows just how much they care and how much it means to them that their work is being recognized. If nothing you know he will work his ass off to make it in the league.

Tony Jones has been blabbering all types of incoherent stuff lately. He clearly is taller than 5'11" and I don't even have great eyes.

Here's JWF's pre-draft videos on his youtube account:

There is footage of his preparation workouts. At about 13:20 he talks about the workouts he's had and specifically stops on Utah and says "Utah was nice" ... also said Boston liked him a lot.

Also... as you can see on the video... he's sporting a "Tobias Harris hoops" shirt. I don't know what that is... probably a camp Tobias is doing and Foreman has been at it.

Interesting that guys like Naz Reid and Louis King were projected early to mid 2nd round didn't get drafted, worked out for Jazz and didn't get SL invite or 2-way contract offers. I have to trust the Jazz and their due diligence on those.

My guess is they make the roster now.
In '03-'04, Jerry Sloan coached the ESPN predicted "worst team of all time" to 42-40.

It's going to be really hard to get enough good vet min contracts to fill out the roster to the point where we wouldn't need the rookies. My guess is at least 2 of the draft picks make the roster.

Oni looks extremely explosive in some of those highlight videos:

I can't wait to watch some full game film of his.

Pretty crazy that the heat bought an early 40's pick for 1.8mil and we bought 58 for 2mil. I guess some teams are a little slower than others.

Both NAW and Hayes look amazing! WOW! It's possible NOP got 2 players better than what Atlanta got at 4.

The Pels are having the fastest rebuild in the history of rebuilds. I won’t be shocked if they make the playoffs.

Agreed--they both look really good. NAW looks like he could be a real nice two-way player. Loved his defense and passing, and everything else. And that Hayes dunk was insane.

David Locke keeps comparing Oni to Mbah a Moute...if I had to guess, the big similarity he's seeing is their African names. I hope this is a draft analysis coming from him and not the one who tells him who draft every year.

I don't know if Mbah a Moute is the best comparison, but he definitely looks like a 3 and D prospect. Initially I thought he might be more of a ballhandler, but it seems like the weak competition in college had me fooled. He can't really handle the ball confidently. He is very capable passer though. If I had to give him a comparison right now it's more along the lines of Royce(that's with some development in the next year or two)...
