Could Giannis the long term target for 2021? Durant should be back by then. ...

That $55 million per year is irrelevant/misleading because his salary only counts against the cap on an annual basis.

And paying him for the first season for 0 games played only matters from an opportunity cost standpoint, if you plan to sign someone else with that money.

That’s the worse case scenario imo. I’d take the risk

see what i mean, they're everywhere you look lol

Remember the guy who kept posting "KD surgery is tomorrow" before anyone knew anything and nobody was paying attention?? I think some of these random posters are legit connected guys in the know. I wouldn't be surprised if KD himself hasn't visited this board and reads our posts.

Ok, well can you give me an example of a player receiving a max contract who was guaranteed not to play the 1st year of their 4 year contract? Just one example in the history of the NBA will suffice.

I'm basing the numerics on what he actually does on the court, you know the reason why we'd be signing him in the first place?

Rather pay him to not play than sign guys that don't move the needle. That said, the FO seems to not be in the mode of signing non premium players to big deal so the waiting option (or taking on bad contracts with assets) is also something I would like.

I don't think we'd be paying anyone 164.5 million in FA that doesn't move the needle for us.

Why do you assume automatically we'd be signing guys that don't move the needle?

Perry and Mills have been consistent the past 2 seasons on the type of guys they want to bring in here, and they've been adamant about not going after tier 2 guys.

Unless Dolan is leaking, why do we believe these most recent reports?

Typical transparent Dolan bullsh*t trying to spin the media so he doesn’t look like an idiot for his public predictions last winter.

This means KD ain’t coming.

How you worked the mental gymnastics on that, god only knows.

So he'd be getting paid 164.5 million dollars if he signed a max deal with us.

For 3 years of service at the MOST, that comes out to 55 million per year for his POTENTIAL on court play, not knowing how much he'd be able to fully recover from such a devastating injury.

That's 40% of our cap on a 30 something year old guy coming off an Achilles rupture.

The Knicks traded an oft injured player to create cap space to then sign an already injured player to the max. Now where does that make sense?

It would be crazy not to read the medical reports carefully. For instance what if the surgery was botched?
