Looks like an extra $70,000 to throw at Clarke (or someone else), as Robertson agrees to an under slot deal.

Curious what the backup plan might be if Clarke doesn't sign/Brown isn't seeking a massively above-slot deal. Throw a couple hundred thou at the Quebecois kid just for the novelty of having a drafted 16 year old in the system?
**** your asterisk.

Dasan Brown seems to still be ghosting the Blue Jays... what gives, kid? You were taken higher than projected. Grab your payday and go to work! PS. You've got an atrocious swing.

He went around where he was ranked, and I'd bet any money that the holdup comes from the fact that they are waiting on Philip Clarke to finish his season, as those two bonuses are more or less tied together.

When does the international period start, and are the jays looking to sign anyone this year?

Clarke's season concluded today with Vanderbilt winning the college SW over Michigan. Clarke, a left handed catcher who hits cleanup, had three hits. A sophomore, he has a bit of bonus leverage. Will be interesting to see if they get Brown and Clarke both signed. That would make for a nice draft IMO

If we get them both, we dam near signed 'em all. Never seen a Blue Jays board with so many signs. I suppose that's a good thing... unless they all only signed because they all suck and they all know it!
As for Clarke, I'd make him as strong of an offer as it takes to get him. If we are left with only slot to give to Brown, I'd let the kid twist on that decision. Kid should give his head a shake. His hardball tactics probably cost him money today.

What hardball tactics? He is signing late because he only just recently graduated HS (like a few days ago). He wasn't "holding out" for money, some of you need to spend less time jumping to conclusions.
It sounds like he is getting overslot anyway as was agreed upon beforehand. I have no idea if they have enough to get Clarke signed, but presumably they felt they had enough to get that done too. No one knows what his asking price is, but he turned down seven figures out of HS and he obviously has the leverage to go back to school, although maybe he is ready to start his pro career.

And depending on how overslot Brown is going, we may be able to offer Clarke something in the range of 3rd round money, which isn't out of line with what he can expect next year, unless he breaks out in a big way.

Re: 2019 MLB Draft thread, June 3 - 5
Not flashy, but the people who know things seemed to quite like our college picks in particular, and we have a couple swing-for-the-fences upside selections in there as well. Clarke fell on signability (and I'm guessing would have gone quite a bit higher had people known that he'd sign for 4th round money), but we also had the good fortune of the draft falling before the College World Series...he was hardly a below-the-radar prospect at Vanderbilt, but seemed to get rave reviews on that stage.
