The most fortune blessed guy on the North American continent is Coach Nurse. He inherited a very good and sound team from Coach Casey and the front office improved its personnel. Now with the championship he is guaranteed a long tenure in Canada and a choice of jobs after that.

He is an NBA coach so his current popularity will last as long as he has the best talent. Jack Ramsay was god in Portland after he replaced the great Lenny Wilkens and won a championship with talent Wilkens didn't have. I sat in the stands and listened to the crowd boo and chant "fire Ramsay." This is what 8 years does to an NBA fans memory.

Does it matter? Even if he leaves, that championship is there forever and his statue/jersey retirement dates are being jotted down on a calendar in stone.

I'm sure they'd love to keep him and get a shot at another one, but at this point, anything else from him in Toronto is just gravy.

Yeah, the trade paid off for the Raptors. They still want to keep Leonard. The best chance is now and everyday that passes their chance of keeping him is less.

Does Raptors success mean Popovich and Spurs screwed up? If trading for Leonard for just 1 chance at a championship was worth it, then why would it not be worth keeping him for just 1 more year to win a championship?

Yes.

How come Blazers Asst. Coach David Vanterpool went to Minnesota? Was that really a step up?

His new title is associate head coach. That sounds pretty good. He's a head coach now, but you have never heard anyone chant fire the associate head coach.

Neil Olshey plays checkers while certain other GMs play... drunken lawn darts.
