If he takes up to a week & someone signs D’angelo to an offer sheet by Monday, the Nets are screwed.

The Nets are irrelevant and are low on assets. How they are even an option let alone “leading the race” is insane to me.

I don’t think that’s how it works.

In the moratorium you can’t officially sign anything. You can verbally agree, but signings become official on July 6th. So Nets have until the 8th or 9th to match his contract.

Disagree I think he wants to wait to see who the Knicks can sign besides him, and giving the Knicks time to figure it out

Would other free agents hold off until Kd makes his decision?

He was never coming to the knicks come on. KD versus Lebron and AD. NY vs. LA. Hes from southern California and even if he wasn't whos picking NY over LA as a NBA player.

Uhh, the Knicks were on his list of 4 teams that he would like to be traded to last year. There were huge debates of whether the Knicks should offer KP for him.

I tried to tell these motherfckers we should have done it.

Gotta imagine KD has stroke around the league to bring players with him. Unlike Melo.

There's not a lot of bigmen that had it, but many have made full recoveries. Al Jefferson had it.

Now list the players that came back from an Achilles. It's not a long list. It's Dominique Wilkins.

Oh and Durant is 7 feet as well. Only 3 inches shorter than KP, so the whole height thing is moot.

For the record I didn't ask that question as a setup, I asked it because I read your post, really disagreed with "perpetuating the myth that KP's injury will haunt him forever", and since I was at a kids' sporting event I couldn't do the research right then.

I honestly couldn't think of any. And I feel Al Jefferson actually supports my case - that was a young, dynamic bigman who was the centerpiece in the Garnett trade, and had his best season in the one he got hurt. He was on the upswing, and while he came close in later years to the same level of production he posted the year he got hurt, he never fully came back to even that level. He was 24 and seen as a franchise cornerstone when he got hurt, and it turns out that was the pinnacle of a career many people thought was on it's way to another stratosphere. They traded him less than two years later.

If KP's career production trajectory is going to mimic Jefferson's in terms of how he comes back, the Mavs are in a boatload of trouble in my opinion. Regardless, my main point in responding to your initial post was that I don't think that Porzingis' injury is in any way something that is a layup to come back from. In fact, because of his physical profile I think it's actually something that presents strong odds at impacting his career dramatically, whether an instant ceiling upon his return or further problems down the road. David West was not the same, Nerlens Noel never panned out, Gallinari had comparable rate stats upon his return but couldn't stay on the court, Nene came back and became a great backup bigman, but like you said, there haven't been many.

And I'm not insinuating anything at all about Durant and his achilles for the record - it's a horrific injury with a poor track record. Just that I don't think Porzingis is in any way free and clear.

So you think 6'10" in shoes Al Jefferson and his game is a decent comparison to 7'3" in bare feet KP's game?

I honestly am completely lost as to why sooooooo many posters here have a psychological thing where they have to irrationally attack players - particularly if they were once on the Knicks roster and now are not.

I see a thing where you're irrationally creating a straw man argument, but that's about it. I fail to see where I am being irrational in the discussion of the injury. We don't have much data on bigmen and an ACL tear. I was trying to find whatever evidence there was, and specifically responding to Sark's introduction of Al Jefferson as a point of reference.

B8RcDeMktfxC wrote:[edit] and of course for all of the injured guys no one knows. but there are risks for all players. you just have to guesstimate (with,eg, the Dolan-asked for medical info re KD) in each case

You're making a similar point to mine here, as I was looking to make an educated guesstimate by introducing whatever historical precedent we could find. My whole initial response was to question the assertion that that Porzingis' future is somehow without meaningful risk due to his injury.

Durant got his rings, He'll be in the HOF, he doesnt have anything to prove anywhere. Not to mention this has been the place where players come to die. He aint got the window with his injury and depending on a #2 he might just fade away here and tarnish his legacy. At this point in my career I would say no to Knicks, and thats lucky for us.

Kawhi is the better option not just from health and playing ability, but players would rather play with a guy who took a team on his back, rather than a guy who had to bitch out and join a super squad. KD is just more of the same ass culture.
There's something about an underdog that really inspires the unexceptional.

Again the injury is such a large elephant in the room. I dunno if any player is willing to throw a year away waiting for KD
