WOW, the Lakers continue to win without actually wining. Now why the hell would Kawhi Leonard want Magic Johnson to help recruit him if he wasn't seriously consider going to the Lakers? Tell me Knicks fans, why the hell would Kawhi consider going to a team that didn't even make the playoffs last year? Could AD have something to do with it? Could Lebron have something to do with it? Do stars actually attract other star players? How good would the Knicks chance be to sign KD if they were able to trade for AD?

Most Knicks fans including the Knicks front office felt the young Kids will get them to the promise land one day. I guess the Lakers felt different and we will see who was right. If the Knicks don't get KD, the off season is a TOTAL FAILURE!!! The front office will have to pitch the benefits of NYC for KD's business more than the Knicks current roster. The Lakers on the other hand can say we got Lebron. Lebron then encourages the Lakers to trade whoever to add AD, then Lebron said I know what it take to win multiple championship, lets add another star like Kawhi, so the Lakers can become the new Warriors. Checkmate! :nonono: If RJ, Mitch, DSJ and Knicks favorite Frank don't become all stars, the the front office has failed again. :noway: And lets not even talk about the fans on this board who refuse to trade Knicks current all star players for AD :nonono:

If the NETS get two star players and the Knicks strikeout, I might have to... I can't say it. :( :nonono: It's too sad to say.

The comparison between THJ and DLo is you're essentially overpaying a guy for one year of good production (or even half a year), while being young and assuming he grows to make the contract worth it

DLo is better than Tim, which is reflected in him going to cost us 27 million instead of 17 million

It's the same concept, applied to a better player for more money. I just don't see the point to it, we're probably still gonna be one of if not the worst team in the league next year, DLo isn't good enough to get us to the playoffs. If Dipo doesn't get hurt, he's also not an All Star. Then we're stuck into paying him basically 30 mil a year while being a (young) treadmill team, until guys develop. Better to just sit on the cap, tank, and spend it 2, 3 years down the line on a guy of DLo's caliber when we're trying to be good

He's not that good to be a can't-miss type deal
BaF Lakers:

Nikola Topic/Kasparas Jakucionis
VJ Edgecombe/Jrue Holiday
Shaedon Sharpe/Cedric Coward
Kyle Filipowski/Collin Murray-Boyles
Alex Sarr/Clint Capela

Free agency:
Go after the following players and keep the contracts to 2 year maximum even if that means paying more on a per year average.

Julius Randle: efficient scorer and rebounder with poor defense that hopefully Mitch can help cover up.
JJ Reddick: veteran sharpshooter to help keep defenses honest.
Pat Beverly: grizzled veteran defender to help set the tone of a young team- easy fan favorite

Deandre Jordan: great veteran and plus defender rebounder and finisher

Lineup:
C. Mitch Robinson/ Deandre Jordan
PF. Julius Randle/ Kevin Knox
Sf. RJ Barrett/ Kevin Knox
SG. JJ Reddick/ Alonzo Trier
PG. Dennis Smith/ Pat Beverly

To me this is a competitive team that is a real playoff team in the east, and has flexibility moving forward to be a player in future free agency while developing young core players. Let me know what you think.

I would not like that offseason. Personally i see that team winning maybe 30 games unless someone breaks out. The worst spot you want to be in.

yeah, there is no need to pay a backup center much money anymore.

Getting pretty close to being able to say the same thing about starting centers. Unless you’ve got a Jokic/Embiid/AD type of talent, dropping major coin on a 5 is kinda iffy.

and you see a lot of the overpaid ones on the market now. capela, steven adams, whiteside has been on the market every year. i said before free agency that i thought cousins would have to settle for mle money if he wants a multi year deal. i still think so.

D-Lo is significantly smaller and less elusive than Timmy. Better shooter. D-Lo is not genuinely good folks.

People keep talking about wanting D-Lo here but he's the same moron that got busted for weed at the airport just a few months ago during the biggest offseason of his life financially.

I have no problem with anyone smoking, but if you take weed with you to the airport it speaks volumes to one's lack of maturity and just overall stupidity. Forget about the fact he snitched on a teammate in the most ridiculous manner possible, he supposedly went through a maturation process since he left the Lakers and culminated with him getting busted for pot at an airport.

We don't need an idiot like that on this roster that's filled with a bunch of young guys. If the idea is to build a solid culture here than Russell should not even be entertained as a viable option.

he's not so good that you should tie up a 3rd of your cap and that's what happens. even if his max is less than 7 year players or 10 year players, it still prevents you from adding one of them. so saving that money doesn't matter much.

the front office is taking the exact right position, if we can't sign guys who are going to elevate us to contenders we're gonna build through the draft again. i thought everybody hated dolan because the knicks would never tank, they did it for one year and some of you already gave up on it. it could take 5 years. it's no wonder they never do it. they know a large portion of the fanbase doesn't really want it no matter what they say.

Again people ignore the main point

Whether you want DLo or not, the point is he's a much better option than Randle. Ok fine, we don't need DLo according to some, but we are about to settle on Julius Randle. And explain to me how that is a better route to take? I'm still waiting

The biggest difference is DLo is younger and a much better prospect then Timmy was when he was a free agent. He has much more upside and room to get better. Im not sure if he does get much better, but there's a chance imo.

I would not max him if I'm the knicks, but it is a much better gamble/signing.

i was 100% against the Timmy signing. Against it, but not nearly as much for Dlo.
