Offseason Thread: Sunday Funday can't come fast enough

WOW, the Lakers continue to win without actually wining. Now why the hell would Kawhi Leonard want Magic Johnson to help recruit him if he wasn't seriously consider going to the Lakers? Tell me Knicks fans, why the hell would Kawhi consider going to a team that didn't even make the playoffs last year? Could AD have something to do with it? Could Lebron have something to do with it? Do stars actually attract other star players? How good would the Knicks chance be to sign KD if they were able to trade for AD?

Most Knicks fans including the Knicks front office felt the young Kids will get them to the promise land one day. I guess the Lakers felt different and we will see who was right. If the Knicks don't get KD, the off season is a TOTAL FAILURE!!! The front office will have to pitch the benefits of NYC for KD's business more than the Knicks current roster. The Lakers on the other hand can say we got Lebron. Lebron then encourages the Lakers to trade whoever to add AD, then Lebron said I know what it take to win multiple championship, lets add another star like Kawhi, so the Lakers can become the new Warriors. Checkmate! If RJ, Mitch, DSJ and Knicks favorite Frank don't become all stars, the the front office has failed again. And lets not even talk about the fans on this board who refuse to trade Knicks current all star players for AD

If the NETS get two star players and the Knicks strikeout, I might have to... I can't say it. It's too sad to say.

If this is the summer that pushes you to Brooklyn than you really haven't been a fan of this team for long. Good riddance....

Well first of all, I never said I would become a Nets fan, so I have no idea why you typed that. Just because I"m disapointed so far, doesn't mean I will abandoned the team. When was the last time the Knicks had a winning season? And I'm still here. I can't become a Nets fan, it's not like a light switch. I will always be a Knicks fan. NO one can tell me whether I'm a real Knicks fan or not. If I choose not to watch the Knicks next season, it means I'm very disappointed with their decision making, it doesn't mean I will no longer be a Knicks fan.

the thing you should assume when signing any player is that, unless they're a certified perennial all-star or severely underpaid, almost nobody is moved easily for an expiring contract. so if you sign a d-lo or randle and they don't become better, you're probably stuck with them.

He’s one of the worst defenders in the sport, and a reason why he’s 23 and already looking for his 3rd team to play for..he’s a younger Kanter..does two things well, rebounds and scores just like Kanter but can’t be on the floor down the stretch because he can’t stop anyone..don’t tell me his #’s..Kanter put up monster #’s and he was awful

Kanter can’t shoot, Randle does. Not everyone has to be a defensive stalwart, he has value.

D-Lo is significantly smaller and less elusive than Timmy. Better shooter. D-Lo is not genuinely good folks.

he's not so good that you should tie up a 3rd of your cap and that's what happens. even if his max is less than 7 year players or 10 year players, it still prevents you from adding one of them. so saving that money doesn't matter much.

the front office is taking the exact right position, if we can't sign guys who are going to elevate us to contenders we're gonna build through the draft again. i thought everybody hated dolan because the knicks would never tank, they did it for one year and some of you already gave up on it. it could take 5 years. it's no wonder they never do it. they know a large portion of the fanbase doesn't really want it no matter what they say.

Big picture I agree with you 1000% but the argument for D-Lo is that:

- He’s still a young player, who has proven he can play (as opposed to some of our previous draft picks) so he could be considered part of our young core that we’re building through the draft. He’s not a finished product but the base is solid at worst.

- Him tying up one third of the cap is a problem I agree but who are we signing next offseason, or the following, or the one after that?

I’m not necessarily saying that we should but I think you can make the case that signing D-Lo would be a smart investment. Smarter than bringing weed to an airport I agree.

Whatever happened to the idea of rebuilding the right way? We're only 1 and a half seasons into a proper rebuild and posters like you are speaking in such an apocalyptic, doom and gloom manner.

And we don't need all our young guys to develop into all stars (would be nice) in order for them to not be considered failures as you so eloquently put it, they just need to keep developing and improve on their flaws. Rome wasn't built in a day.

I’ve been thinking it was gonna be this for a while and with KD going down with his injury Kawhi was the first person who popped up in my mind who could relate to him.

All this Nets/Lakers **** is just for show and for the weak to get intimidated.

It’s down to the Clippers and us wherever KD & Kawhi are going, the Raptors are out the picture for Kiwi.
