He still wouldn't have stayed for that?
So MJ was offering much less?
He was reportedly offered $20mil more than the Celtics could pay.............and it didn't matter.
$35M annually from Boston vs. the rumored $32M from us.

The per year only matters if the duration was the same.
One contract offer was for $140 mil. The other contract offer was for $160 mil.
You can't reference the per year and then ignore the length.

Why would the Nets get the "at least a 1st round draft pick"?
We would, by FAR, be getting the worst player in the deal???
BigSlam wrote:I still don't understand how it can be a S&T unless it's equal per year salary that is being exchanged.
BlackOutBuzz wrote:The reason the Nets would need a pick (or something) is there's no incentive for them to do it otherwise. They can sign Kyrie outright.
Boston needs it to keep Horford's rights.
Charlotte needs it because there's no space to sign Rozier.
Nets ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
If this happens we'd have to get something from the Nets so that we "touch"? Maybe a 2nd or a player but likely $1.1M.
