Such a good fit for us. A bargain Favors. Obviously won't bring the same impact but can definitely do some of the things Favors does

Davis is a good backup C, hopefully Quin let's him rebound. Don't buy that he can play two positions though. Jazz still need to find a 4 on the minimum.

Looking forward to seeing who's available at the 4 spot for the vet minimum.

He'll get to start and play 24-30 minutes a night for a team trying to contend. Ugggghhh. I don't like it. I like Davis. I don't like our 4 spot.

Conley (32) / Exum (16) /Wright-Foreman
Mitchell (34) / O'Neale (14)
Bogdanovic (32) / Ingles (16) / Oni
Vet Min (24) / Ingles (16) / Niang (8) / Brantley
Gobert (32) / Davis (16) / Bradley
In '03-'04, Jerry Sloan coached the ESPN predicted "worst team of all time" to 42-40.

Sorry I think Bojan or Davis will start at the 4 depending on our opponent

Utah is quietly having one of the best offseasons in the NBA.

Almost makes up for not being able to wait 3 years to see if a #23 draft pick might work out.
Dwayne "smells like" Bacon, A.K.A. The Policeman.

Dude needs to wear #50, that way when he's on the fast break, everybody can yell "Here comes five-oh!"

This is another excellent pickup. Our new GM is crushing it. At this rate I’d say it’s been an A- offseason.

FWIW, Ed Davis played next to some bigs in POR (Vonleh and Collins), but he's like Rudy offensively. Favors makes him look like Dirk Nowitzki.

Could be the plan. Before the signing, this was the plan:

Watch them start Ed Davis next to Gobert :banghead:

P.S. Ed Davis is one of the better backup centers. This is not a bad singing...

If we don't give Snyder another option at 4, I don't think Ingles is going to be in the weightroom enough to prevent it.

Jazz can play Ingles, Bogdanovic, Royce, Niang, Davis at the 4 depending on matchups and what are they really facing? Who's the big you're so worried about? Nurk and Collins? Tucker and Capela? Draymond and Looney? LMA and Poeltl? Harrell and Gallo? Adams and Grant? Jokic and Millsap? Favors and Zion? Bagley and Dedmon? JJJ and Val? Kat and Dieng? Zing and Powell? Ayton and Saric? Anyone that plays in the post will have Rudy on them and one of the 5 guys from our team can handle the other "big" at least somewhat. And perhaps Brantley shows well. Jazz are very versatile

Couldn’t agree more. Every other team has four guard/wing players on the floor with a big for the past 2-3 years and the forum has complained we aren’t playing the modern way, and now people are worried we’ll get bullied by so called PF’s. Let other teams make the mistake we made and play a big PF. Quin will devise a scheme where we run handoffs, get the advantage, and then exploit the match up. And if the PF can even keep pace we’ll have Ingles, Bojan, or Royce in the corner waiting for a catch and drain a 3. We’re going to be the team forcing other teams to change their PF out because we’re draining 3’s on them.

Good deal this one. Give us some of what Favors offered as a back up and for only 5m we can't complain about the rest. Can expect plenty of rebounds and box outs from him while Gobert is resting and hopefully he can do a good enough job of protecting the rim. Its interesting to see he is a good screener but is poor as the roll man in the pick n roll 1.02 point per possession (38th percentile), hopefully he can improve this area especially if he is going to be operating the PnR with Ingles who will look to pass before looking to score. This is less of a worry if his minutes align more with Mitchell/Conley.

With the Ed Davis signing IMO we raised the floor of this team in case of Rudy getting injured. He's not as good as Rudy, but he approximates some of the things Rudy does and is one of the better floor-raiser for a team like ours. I like this signing. It makes sense. It doesn't raise the ceiling at all, because you cannot play him with our best player on the floor, but I guess all other moves we made this off-season are ceiling raisers so it's OK to use somewhat premium resource we had left as an insurance for our best player and replacement for what we lost most by losing Favors.

Great signing....... Great defender and relentless rebounder....... Exactly what you need with a bunch of shooters....... If we could somehow snag somebody like Vonleh, offseason would be complete......

He's not going to play PF, is he?

The real decision the Jazz FO is making is between Continuity, Cap Flexibility, and Cash Considerations.
