Updated Poll: Now what 2 centers other than Robert Williams will the Celtics sign?
Updates after last night: Some players on the original poll are off the board. WCS is unrestricted now. Boban and Koufos are also still available. Nerlens Noel might be available too, so he's on there.
10 choices is an appropriate number for this poll now.

Theis back on his QO, don't think he goes somewhere else. Looney and WCS/Kanter. Poirier will come for the vet min.

I'm team Boban, once again. In a career high for minutes (that's right boys and girls, almost 12mpg for the season), Boban put up per 36s of 22/14/3 on 66 TS%.

Re-posting alternate idea to get a big here in case any capologists pass by the thread...
Not sure if allowable in CBA... Can we do something like this?
1) Trade Semi for Meyers Leonard ($11.3M).
2) Sign Terry Rozier ($17.9M starting salary).
3) Trade Rozier (17.9), Yabu (3.1), Baynes (5.5):
BOS gets Kemba (32.7), 32nd pick, 2020 MIL 1st, asset from CHA
CHA gets Rozier
PHO gets Baynes, Yabu, 24th pick
Is this legal? Satisfies salary matching since Rozier isn't BYC.
It doesn't have to be Leonard but a big we can trade for around that salary $.

I believe JaMychal Green is still a free agent, no? (I can't find any updated info on him anywhere at the moment)
EDIT: according to this, he's still a free agent: https://sports.yahoo.com/nba-free-agency-2019-best-043936014.html

I like him. Wouldn't mind seeing Green in Green.

I'm on team Boogie. He should come back healthier and more explosive. Sure, he's a bit of a risk because of his attitude and injury history, but Kemba & Gordon are here. We have a couple vet guys. Plus, for whatever reason Boogie is really respected around the league. If Brad can get him to buy-in, he could be a huge steal.
I'm always a WCS guy too. So I'm fine with WCS. Kanter doesn't play defense, but would be solid and then could have Bob Williams off the bench. Don't know much about the French kid other than he dunks a lot.

Thank God there weren't any centers available when the Celtics were drafting...
Cousins makes the most sense if he is somewhat functionable and Ainge is going to be in Pump and Dump mode.

I’m genuinely curious as to which (binkie) center(s) you believe would be able to contribute this upcoming season more than Timelord.

At this point we have to roll the dice on somebody.
Boogie scares me, though!

Re: Updated Poll: Now what 2 centers other than Robert Williams will the Celtics sign?
First - Looney isn't a Center and isn't a realistic option IMO (unless we are willing to trade Jaylen for him and pay him and/or pay him 10+ mil per year).
Second, if a PF is acceptable, Jared Dudley is the guy who I think should be top priority on a reasonable contract. He's make a great player coach off the court, and would be interchangeable with Grant Williams in our rotation. He'd be the anti-Mook.
Third, Theis is a no-brainer if he wants to be back.
Fourth, Poirier sounds/looks like he'd be possibly a better version of Theis.
Fifth, while there are a number of guys I'd accept, there are also guys I know I don't want: WCS is Mark Blount, in his own way. Kanter could start playing defense and maybe did a little bit in the playoffs, but it would be a slightly risky bet as we would have to find a way to tie up decent money on a multi year deal IMO. JaMychal Green basically tanked two seasons after signing his most recent contract with the Grizzlies - he could make sense on a one year prove it deal but if the guy would let down Mike Conley and Marc Gasol do we really want him (eta I might be wrong about this, I just know that his stats took a bit of a dive after he signed his contract). And Mook has negative value to the team IMO - selfish, inconsistent, shows no desire to evolve as a player, asks for star-ish treatment, not a great rebounder - and I will firmly be in the fire Danny camp if we bring him back on any contract.
Sixth, I'm sure there are some stories behind the scenes, but I have never understood the negative hype surrounding Boogie Cousins, and have never come across a story that made him out to be a bad guy or a locker room cancer. Immature or childlike, sure. But at least the guy has emotions and cares. AD purportedly liked him in NO, Ws put up a fight in the Finals while relying on the guy to contribute well below 100%.
Seventh, is Noah not done? It's an honest question more than a criticism.
Eighth, maybe I'm biased b/c I would have drafted him, but Vonleh is a local guy, is a proven double double guy, can hit a jump shot, has shown improvement over the past two seasons, and is young with lots of upside to boot. I'm a little curious as to why he hasn't been able to stick anywhere, but I think he is a no brainer on a reasonable, low risk contract.
Ninth, Boban would be interchangeable with Tacko Fall? A mentor for Tacko? His box score stats have been so outlandish, I don't buy the common arguments against him; any coach who can't find a way to make good use of him probably shouldn't be coaching in the NBA. Over his career, the guy has averaged 23 & 15 per 36 on great efficiency.
Tenth, I thought that Bender was overhyped when drafted, but was also a sure thing to have a productive NBA career. I just thought he was a Center in the mold of Vlade Divac or Brad Miller rather than the next Giannis or Draymond, and I didn't think he would contribute a lot his first two or three years in the league. He did show some positive signs towards the end of last season, and I love him as a flier if he comes cheap enough and/or in addition to a more dependable option.
Lastly, Diallo, Khem Birch, and Kenneth Faried are names worth adding to the thread IMO.

Pretty slick, but couple questions.
1) Leonard is just to get a big under the cap before the other steps, right? He's not involved in the S&T?
2) Why isn't Terry BYC in this s&t? I'm missing why he wouldn't only could for half his salary.

Gimme 2 of vonleh, looney, Noel. Tho I dont think it's possible. None of these guys help against the really big bigs anyways, so might as well try to outquick them. Also, I think we will get 3 of them, right? Theis seems almost a given, then 2 more.

Re: Updated Poll: Now what 2 centers other than Robert Williams will the Celtics sign?
Ainge will probably postpone another year for a decent center. Like he is doing it since we traded KG. We never signed a decent 7 footer since his departure.
Ainge keeps backpedalling and he just wachtes how other team sign bigs and make a good playoff run or even win a championship i.e. Warriors with Bogut, Miami Heat with Birdman and the Raptors with Gasol.
He never pulls the trigger when we need a decent big on our rotation. He rather signs players like Monroe on a 10 day contract, yuk.
He'll probably backpedal again and give us the hope that something might happen before trade deadline. But then when trade deadline comes near our reporters like A. Sherrrod wil keep posting garbage tweets and nothing still will happen. Finally we'll sign a washed out big somewhere in March on a 10 day contract again.
I hope his mindset has changed, if not then most of us over here are expecting way to much about the fact that we'll make a move for a legit center. Who will clog the paint and crash the glass for us. It will probably be a undersized C, or a PF again who'll be forced to play center. That player again wont crash the glass for us and will have a hard time boxing out his opponents and lose the defensive boards. And we all will be screaming again after every game how we got manhandled on the defensive boards and gave our opponents way to many second chance points.
The story just keeps on repeating and he's doing nothing with it. I hope realises it and makes a solid move. But i dont have my hopes high about Ainge and signing decenter center. He'll pull the trigger to late again and other teams allready will have made better offers or early moves and we will be left with the crumbs on the plate.
Let's hope Ainge realises his mistakes and that he doesn't keep postponing moves for a decent big.
