Andrew Wiggins and the wolves future

Wiggs been working out with chris Johnson this offseason. Looks like hes either been in California at the "barbershop" or working out in Minnesota this offseason.

And it looks like his focus is on dribble drives, handles, and going left. If he can develop his handle and use a left floater that he showed off in that clip, it will be big for him next season.

I have to admit that watching that Clip gives me some hope. It's a mirage though.

I would love for us to give him one more season. Different coach, different system, adding DLo. I don't think we would regret it.

I can't really buy the "different coach" part though. Saunders has pretty much been here with Wiggins his entire time. I don't think we saw much if any change once Saunders took over in how they used Wiggins but who knows. I sure can't say.

This is just grasping at straws, but this will be his first offseason as a father. Perhaps he's contemplated his life and put more dedication and effort into his career. The FIBA World Cup should give us a good look and it seems like a very favorable place for him to improve his stock.

Well Fred Van Fleet changed from a near demotion to bench warmer in the first few rounds of the playoffs to star player getting finals MVP votes after having a kid so anything is possible.

I hope you are right. Might for sure have to be now that we don't have a real 4 or any depth for it and RoCo is probably going to break down banging with those opponents too much.

The fact that Andrew is angry sort of indicates he's unaware of what a poor player he's been for the last few years. He's put himself and the franchise in this position. If he's unaware that he's bad, then he's not going to get better.

Andrew has every right to be upset. He should stick it to the franchise by sitting out the season and forfeiting his contract. That will show them!

I thought this might happen. It's part of the business but players will get upset if its publicly know they are being shopped. On top of that, you got the fans and media chiming in talking about you. Definitely bad that Rosas couldn't pull this off but now the team has to deal with it.

Upset that Rosas' said he will develop him etc.. then hears that Rosas' is trying to dump him for cap space (fillers). That's fair enough. I'd be upset as well. It still sickens me that this joker earns 27.5 mil this season and is never seen working out

Something doesn't quite add up. I don't see why Wiggins is mad.

If Rosas thought so little of Wiggins, why is he still here? Sure, we missed out on Dlo, but either Wiggins is a negative asset, in which case you get rid of him - even for cap space - or you see Wiggins as a positive asset and want to hold on to him. The fact that Wiggins wasn't dumped, means Rosas values him more than pure cap space.

Letting players know where they are at and where they need to get to is the only way forward. Without that communication and honesty there is nothing at all. That probably goes for any position anywhere. Piss poor management is piss poor management. I don't care what the excuse. Does someone feel they can't talk to him? Is there a claim that he doesn't listen? It's all a weakness on management's part for not communicating exactly what is expected of him. If they are communicating that clearly, then it's up to him to pass or fail and be rewarded with minutes or have minutes stricken from him and he should be wholly aware of why the result is what it is because they just tell him. Of course, the minutes have never been taken away and we don't know what they actually talk to him about. So, why should we expect him to know until the day his name is thrown around in trade talks.

Sure it is. But if he's been completely taken by surprise by this, then it speaks volumes to how terrible and poor the coaching and management of the team has been all his time here.

With new management I can understand Rosas isn't going to walk in and say "you suck" and "you gone soon" so prepare thyself. But for Wiggins not to already know he's underperfoming his contract and in danger of this it truly speaks to zero honest communication from those that have been coaching and developing him.

They have to try to be more honest with these players going forward if they want them to dig down and give you more.

Wiggins spoke about elevating his play come this next season to an allstar level. So supposedly he knows he wasn't there yet. But I don't think anyone has been honest about how far away he's been.
