I have a lot of free time today so i will give my take on Jimmy.
AI made me a Sixers fan. There is no star on our team like Jimmy, after AI.
Jimmy is a star. You just see it with how he plays. He is very cerebral with his reads and how he create space. He always uses the “reggie miller” kick to create space for his lack of size. If you ask me, wade taught him that lol
He is not a good post player but his PnR game has been surprisingly good. He is not that confident with his 3pt shot and likes to pass up a lot of open looks.
Frankly, I dont think he’s a good defensive player in this stage of his career. He is too small for elite wings like Kawhi that Kawhi doesnt have to work to get his numbers with Jimmy defending him. Guys like Kemba dropped almost 50 with him. Maybe he was just on fire but overall I dont see Jimmy locking up anyone (so did Ben but atleast Ben made them work). Jimmy likes to gamble a lot on defense, and he’s good at it because he has high IQ to make the right reads on defense.
He will thrive being an alpha and playing like a poor man’s version of Kawhi. He still has gas on his tank. He is still surprisingly very athletic.
If you will ask me, I think Heat will get another star in the near future to pair up with him. And that will make the Jimmy trade make sense for your team. Nowadays you dont need prime assets to get a prime player. It’s the “tampering” era. AD was acquired with a bunch of scrubs.
Sad to see Jimmy leave. He’s my favorite Sixer after AI.
There’s never been a time in history when we look back and say that the people who were censoring free speech were the good guys.
