He wasn't. Way too good for it.

Presti deserves a lot of credit here. It sounds like he got Toronto into the bidding, which is likely why the price was so high.

This is why I'm so torn on sam. It's like he's this diabolical genius at times that morphs into Ernie Grunfeld after he's shocked the world.

I think he's between worlds. Acquiring talent and assets is something he's REALLY good at, but putting the finishing touches around those assets and making sure they fit together is a problem. He's been much better when not trying to walk that 'sustainability vs winning' line.

Agreed. I think the deal really was the perfect storm with the clock ticking for LAC and the raptors in on the deal. I'm not sure this deal happens if teams didn't feel the pressure of missing out on a deal.

Not to dump on Presti but let's not get too excited. He was playing with a full house from the sound of it. That hasn't been the case in awhile around here.

But you play the cards you're dealt, and he got them to keep adding to the pot.

Definitely. He did good. I'm very happy with the return. Just not to go overboard analyzing it.

Did they ask Russ' permission to trade him there before offering that or nah?

I would guarantee it, especially since shams reported George and Russ were both dissatisfied. Also proves that pg's request wasn't to get away from Russ.

I'll take "who cares?" for $200 alex.

At this point we already know :
- PG13 wanted to leave and to play with Kawhi
- PG13 was fine to keep playing with Russ
- Russ and PG13 both unhappy and wanted to leave

Feel like always Russ is going to be screwed :(

I would think everyone. It's going to be a pretty big indicator of rather we're looking to maximize value or do what's best for him.

This puts to bed the idea that we will still try to build around russ. He gone.

Not sure this year though. Well he will do his best to get traded ASAP.

Wonder if a player's agent has ever informed him of the Thunder's contract offer in free agency and said, 'and don't forget, this is the same team that fully guaranteed Ronnie Price's camp deal and had to pay him 2 full years. They really do right by players.'

Player: "Wow. Give me that contract. I'm ready to sign."

It has to be this year. We can't risk him having another knee surgery.

Kinda with dadouv here, I'm not sure he is. I don't know that there's a trade that makes sense right now.

He should get in on that Golden State/Brooklyn s&t. That would be hilarious.

Probably Ronnie price

Knicks could attract a star next year and gamble on Westbrook for a year. Not many teams are in a good position to trade for Russ right now.

And then Ronnie's agent was like, Ronnie, Ronnie wake up. You fell asleep in my office again. You've got to find your own place.

You should take a look at next year's free agency class. Woof.

If Russ isn't traded in 2-3 days I think it's safe to say he will stay at least until the trade deadline

Nope. PG13 wanted to join LA and ended up staying 2 years in OKC.

Return to Oklahoma City Thunder
