OK heres whats im hoping for. Couple things to consider. I know Bradley isn't a PG but he can defend them and in starting unit ball will be in Kawhi and Lebron hands. Rajon Rondo is sure to be back unfortunately.

PG- Avery Bradley - Alex Caruso - Quinn Cook

SG- Kentavious Caldwell Pope - Troy Daniels - Talen Horton Tucker

SF- Kawhi Leonard - Darius Miller - Kyle Korver

PF- Lebron James - Kyle Kuzma - Jared Dudley

C- Anthony Davis - Javale McGee - Salah Mejri

Is Noel still an option? I understand he asked OKC time to re-evaluate a new deal. If available I would consider offering him the Room MLE or Vet Min. AD has repeatedly stated he prefers to play PF over C. I would make it a priority to appease him given that he’s a free agent this coming summer.

I keep forgetting about Bradley. He’d be a solid fit. I like it.

I think:
Kawhi (max)
Iggy and Korver (min. after buy-out)
Re-sign Caruso, Chandler, McGee, KCP on min. deals. (KCP at min seems light, but they do get to keep his bird rights, which is important).
Use roomMLE on Rondo (unfortunately). I would hope that they go after Morris, Ja.Green or hopefully Boogie, but we seem to be stuck with Rondo for some reason.

That would leave us with:

Rondo / Caruso / THT
Kawhi / KCP / Daniels
Lebron / Iggy / Korver
Kuz / Dudley
AD / McGee / Chandler

I have no idea how the cap works, can someone help me. Say we get kawhi, then sign a bunch of guys to vet min and use the MLE. Can we then theoretically use bird rights to overpay people like Rondo and McGee? Thanks.

The dream:

Bradley / Burke / Caruso
Iggy / KCP / Daniels
Kawhi / Korver
Lebron / Kuz / Dudley
AD / Boogie / Chander

If we get Kawhi (fingers crossed) we have the roomMLE worth about 5M as well as veteran min. deals. We can split up the roomMLE if we need to. We dont have bird rights on any of our FAs as it takes 3 years to get bird rights.

I'm pretty sure Caruso, Chandler and McGee will be back on min. deals. Also, KCP because next summer we would have his Bird Rights and be able to (over)pay him even though we're over the cap.

As for the roomMLE i think we ideally find a mid-tier guy willing to take it, but the list isn't long at this point. Maybe Danny Green or Boogie perhaps if they're promised the full MLE next summer, but i'm not sure that's happening. One of the Morris twins perhaps or JaMychal Green would also be good. I'd be happy with Trey Burke.

Additional veterans could be Korver, Iguodala or Avery Bradley if/when they're bought out. Probably Melo, Noah, Lin would be in the mix too.

I don't think Iggy is a starter at this point in his career, and certainly not in the SG spot.
I see KCP there.

You can start Lance if you want, it doesn't really matter. This is the best team first, only debate is if you have Caruso in over Rondo.

Caruso will get big minutes. But Rondo will start I think. To me it's a close call between the two, with a personal preference to Caruso.

If Kawhi doesn't come then this will be close to the most likely lineup:

PG: Caruso | Lance | Rondo
SG: Iguodala | KCP | Daniels
SF: LeBron | Korver | Talen
PF: Davis | Kuzma | Dudley
C : Cousins | J Williams | Chandler

Unless Lakers bring in a player to relieve another team's tax woes (Cavs, Miami, OKC, Wiz need luxury tax relief).

Based on stats and what they bring, this is the best possible lineup IMO, which is quite close to the likely lineup except that Green and Thabo replace Rondo and KCP (which seem like they're coming to Lakers while Green probably goes back to Raps and Thabo retires):

PG: Caruso | Lance | Daniels
SG: Green | Iguodala | Talen
SF: LeBron | Korver | Thabo
PF: Davis | Kuzma | Dudley
C : Cousins | J Williams | Chandler

PF: AD/Kuzma/Morris
C: Cousins/Mcgee

needed 6 signings

But we have Kuz and AD in that position. Why Mirotić?
