New nba is hard to have multiple guys on a team who can't shoot from outside. Ideally I want Westbrook penetrating with 4 shooters if we trade for him.

Re: Trade for Westbrook?
One first round pick, next year.
This team is built around Blake and he is one bad play from getting injured and that pick could end up easily in the top 3.
Reggie, galloway, thon maker and a frp.
Lots of expiring. OKC wants to spend as little as possible.
Could even add Kennard if OKC can send back a big to replace thon.
Its still a bad idea but if Gores is set on Pistons destruction at least it would be less painful.
No handful of future picks is key.

Re: Trade for Westbrook?
I think it’s more realistic to trade for Toronto’s roster as they rebuild. Their guys added to Blake as the star instead of kawhi. Less cost, probably better for a tam.

Probably doesn't mean much, but Russ hasn't ever played with a high level big. Prime Ibaka was really solid, but not near an upper echelon player.
The basic basketball fan in me, would like to see what a Russ/Blake 2 man game looks like. The Piston fan in me, wants to see that occur in Thunder uniforms.

I'll even throw in brown. Prefer to keep kennard though he would be a value with his outside shooting

If you guys are saying you wouldn’t trade anything we can get to grab an MVP player like Russell Westbrook in his damn prime then we are going to stay irrelevant as we have been for the next who knows how many years.
With Russell on the trading block and with the pistons refusing to trade Blake and Drummond to rebuild we should give up anything and everything to get him.
A big 3 of Russ, Blake and Drummond is a team that can win in this wide open eastern conference and possibly make the finals. As currently constructed with the roster we have moving forward that isn’t anything feasibly reasonable for us to obtain.
We should get Russ on any end every cost and make a run to the NBA finals. Russ and Blake on the same team with Drummond is something that has the capability of being special. Definitely the team the pistons would have with the most upside since our old beloved Chauncey billups era.
I would easily offer up Reggie, Galloway, Kennard and Sekou to go along with 3 picks and 2 pick swaps to grab Russel Westbrook. If we do that trade our lineup would look like
Russ / Drose
Brown / Thomas
Smell / Svi
Blake / Morris
Drummond / Maker
We would be very weak at our wing men position but we can be in the market for guys like Iguadala, Melo, JR, Shumpert, McCaw, Korver, Rondae Hollis Jefferson, Avery Bradley, Nik Stauskas, Justin Holiday, and Jamal Crawford.
Yes this seems like a lot but it’s really nothing compared to the impact Russell can bring. And with Toronto doing what they did anything is possible.
Please make this happen!!
They don’t need to give up 3 FRP, Kennard and Sekou.

If we don’t have to that is great. But if we do have to we should with no hesitation. Russell Westbrook is an MVP. This makes us title contenders in the East.

Re: Trade for Westbrook?
Westbrook does not make the Pistons contenders for the east.
Bucks - we still dont have an answer for Greek freak. Snell guard him? Blake is not even close to an option. Maybe 5 years ago.
76ers - Embiid destroys Dre.
Nets and Boston, good chance. But pistons would be tier 2. Nets next year might be very good. Whereas blake and Westbrook would be less athletic.

Re: Trade for Westbrook?
Fun stuff imagining Pistons trading for Westbrook. On an immediate level, they would be interesting, which is why this is fodder for threads like this.
On a realistic level that extends beyond the first 20 games of next season, let's pray the Pistons brass don't do this, and if they somehow sell themselves on it, they absolutely refuse to add any sweetener at all. I'd wait it out if I was the Pistons and actually wanted to seriously consider it, just telling them they would have to include some first round picks. 40 million plus for 34 year old Westbrook is going to be painful wherever that happens.

Re: Trade for Westbrook?
I’m not 100% on it working (I think espn’s trade machine isn’t 100%), but I think
Drummond / Reggie / Galloway / Kennard / Thon
For
Russ /Adams / Grant
Is cap legal. It saves the Thunder $10 mil in raw salary and more than that considering the tax and gives them a package they can spin as an “all star (Dre)” - young player (Kennard) - cap relief plus surely a pick or two.
Adams / Snell / Rose would be $40 mil in expiring money next year if the opportunity to swing for a 3rd star came up.

Grant is only 25, they wouldn’t want to move him. But they might want to move Roberson’s deal.

If Russ, Adams, Grant didnt work in OKC with Paul George it will be worse with Blake.
Then at the 2 there is brown or svi?
Westbrooks 38 million salary is a problem.
Reggie, Galloway, Snell, Thon works as a trade for salary.
But then we are back to no SF. Maybe Svi?

Re: Trade for Westbrook?
Any trade would have to be 3 or 4 for one. It means Gores will have to sign off on going into lux tax for 2-3 vet minimum signings for depth.
Also off hand but has the Rose signing been officially announced? I saw Kieff and Frazier signings announced on Pistons official twitter. Can't seem to find a similar Rose announcement. Reason I say this is maybe we're trying to work out a S&T for him with Milwaukee. This would give us use of our full MLE back, and also could allow us to just spend the TMLE and not be apron capped.
Off hand worth a mention is Markieff Morris was teammates with Westbrook for 2-3 months last season. I wonder what he would advise if asked privately.

I'm surprised we don't have more posters excited about the possibility of us getting a star guard!

I would be real excited to bring in a two way talent like that. Nobody can stop Russ or Blake at times when they want to get to the rim.

Well, as you've seen from the thread it's actually a fairly controversial idea.
Not only that, but this is a pretty weak source. I'm not going to worry about it until we see something better.
It's also worth noting that a quick trade with the Thunder would likely be bad news- it means we came out with an up front offer they couldn't pass up. That's not a position we want to be in.
I don't want to trade for him but if we do I want it to be when they are desperate and we only have to give up minimal assets.
