What makes this a tough trade is that while OKC is likely committed to appeasing Westbrook, it would just be weird to trade George for a mint, and then get absolutely nothing for Westbrook. Maybe we should include a few mints in the trade package.

Flash4thewin wrote:Yes, he would be our best player and the face of the franchise. Also we have no choice since we traded for Butler and promised him star help. The way i see it with Butler here, we are on the clock to compete today, like Pat says with his actions, bleep youth, you dont win with youth and we are on a win now time table. The other issue i see is that while Butler is 30, he’s an old 30, remember all the wear and tear he has gone though with Thibs, we realistically might have 2 years left at an elite level if that. That makes trading for Westbrook all that more pressing.

The only young player we need to keep is Bam because we need the size and his small contract. Herro and Winslow are as good as gone, OKC let Waiter leave, they are not going to get him back. Pat prides himself in finding gems in the D-league, thats how we will fill out the rest of the roster.

Westbrook
Waiters
Butler
JJ ?
Bam

Also i dont get this Westbrook hate, calling him a team cancer while we traded for Butler lol. Ask the Wolves what they think for Butler and you will hear cancer pop up, didnt they even call him Sprewell 2.0 lol. One mans cancer is another teams foundation player.

Can you stop with this “we promised Jimmy star help” nonsense. We didnt promise him ****, he turned down an opportunity to team up with Kawhi. He’s here because he wanted to be.

Even though it likely won’t end w/ winning anything, let’s do it. We can’t tank since we did the Butler trade, let’s go all in.

Westbrook and Schroeder for Winslow; Bam, Dragic, and James Johnson

Would Heat fans be more or less interested in Chris Paul as opposed to Russell Westbrook?

Thought... There could be a 3way trade among Houston, Miami, and OKC

Love CP, 4 years older doe. He might be better than Russ for the remainder of his career, but I don't think I'd rather risk it.

His contract does expire a yr sooner tho, idk

What's the proposed deal? If we could get CP3 for nothing but salaries we'd like to dump, I'd be willing to go that route.

Good thing you are not in charge of the team.

I would have to imagine some combo of Dragic, Winslow, Waiters, and Johnson would be what Miami is willing to part with right now. I don't think Houston would be that interested in that package. So i think the best way to get CP3 to Miami would be a 3way trade

Miami gets - CP3
Houston gets - Russell Westbrook
OKC gets - a combo Dragic, Johnson, Waiters, and Winslow

If I'm Miami I wouldn't part with Bam or Herro for Westbrook or CP3.

I’d definitely prefer Westbrook over CP3 and it isn’t close for mine.

Nope. That's too rich for a guy that age with that contract. If I'm going that route, it's only going to be if it preserves ALL of my trade assets.

Make it ...

Miami gets - CP3
Houston gets - Westbrook
OKC gets - Waiters, Johnson, C.Lee + 2 Houston 1st round picks
Mavs get - Dragic

If we're not getting Westbrook, we don't need to be helping any other team get him. I don't want CP3. I'd rather have the cap space when it clears. That dude would probably be demanding a trade before his contract is up anyway.

Why? The important thing is that we come out ahead, not what anyone else gets.

After years of Westbrook being in the top 10 in real plus-minus because of his athletic ability and effort level, last year he was 42nd while his teammate was #1, the decline has started while on that supermax contract, he relies too much on that athletic ability to stay near his prime while going deeper into his 30s.

Miami would be doing OKC a favor getting them out of that contract, hopefully, if Miami trades for him none of the young players are included, at the bare minimum they're needed for the rotation.

If we get Westbrook he wouldn't be playing 36 minutes a game like he is in OKC. That should help him some, even if he wouldn't like it.
