That Middleton contract gotta be one of the worst overpays in the history of the league, I hope it’s not used as a benchmark in negotiations.

Resign.
The scariest question in NBA history.
"Can Stephen Curry get better?"
"Can Stephen Curry get better?"

Re: What should we do if Dray declines the 4/100 extension
i'd explore trading Draymond for either Bobby Portis or Otto Porter. Both are excellent 3 pt shooters and defenders. Porter is more of a SF but i think he can be utilized as a small ball 4. He's 6'8, and draymond's only 6'7. If we use the TPE on a midseason trade, we can absorb more incoming salary than what we send out right. So draymond+tpe for Porter maybe? Or maybe we can extract Kevin Knox and Bobby Portis for Draymond?

With the hard cap, the Warriors have to take back an equal or less amount of salary as they send out.

maybe Draymond for Portis+1st rder or Portis+Kevin Knox from Knicks..really like Portis, 6'11 40% 3 pt shooter good defender and rebounder. would fit right next to WCS and can switch to center if we go small.

The only way Draymond signs this off-season is if he's feeling some type of way about the big injuries that Klay Cousins and KD suffered.

I read an article once that coaches around the league used the contract Brooks got from the Wiz as a benchmark to get more money. If even coaches are doing it you best believe Dray will do it.

The conversation should be:
Myers: we’re offering 3/103
Rich Paul: but Khris Middleton got 5/190
Myers: yeah, well, the Bucks are dumb

Of course, we don't even know if the Warriors will offer the $100 million extension. Maybe four more years of Draymond is a bridge too far. Or, they may prefer to see how he holds up this year and make a similar or lesser offer next summer. They're not obligated to offer a max next summer, especially if there's not a strong market for him. A lot can change in a year.

A 5 year max contract for Draymond puts him 3 years past Steph's current contract.
As much as I love Draymond that's just not a sound business decision. If there's a trade market this season, you have to explore it.

If Curry, Klay, and D'Lo (or D'Lo's eventual replacement(s)) are going to keep us over the cap limit into the future anyway, I don't really care how much $$ Dray gets. The only downside would be making it more difficult to trade him if we ever wanted to, right? Other than that, what's the downside to paying Dray the max?

If Draymond does not sign, I would trade him. I would try to get any pieces I can.

Re: What should we do if Dray declines the 4/100 extension
I just don't want to have a year like last year with unfinished business hanging over the team and a bunch of drama. I really liked the maturity he showed at the end of the year. He said all the right things. Slimmed down. Was excellent all around. That being said- He is now playing for a contract and we know who his representation is. Warriors would end up with nothing if he doesn't sign that proposed extension and walks. Better to get something than nothing. We lucked out with D'LO. Durant could have gone to a team with clear cap space. Now here we are again.... MMMM

no problem with him getting max if we are over the cap anyways, provided theres a conditioning and weight clause.
also no problem trading him no matter the contract if there's a good deal out there for a younger player/players that will age better.
I always rather have the ball in currys hands anyways in the playoffs.

If there was a player who is really close to Myers and Lacob, it's Draymond. I'm pretty sure they've laid all their plans and intents on table. This move with DLo pretty much helped the cause of keeping Draymond at GS. If KD had walked for nothing, it was pretty much a guarantee that Draymond was going to get traded. Now, it's not so clear. I think Lacob and Myers gonna see how much Draymond can ball out without KD.

Ideally the team keeps their best players as long as they are performing at a fairly high level and they focus on developing undervalued/unseen talent that they can then trade for more assets and upgrade to elite talent.
The Spurs model can work for the Warriors too, they keep their elite home grown players, pay them max money for one more contract each, then they get cheap and still lead the team for another contract while the team keeps trying to develop. It's a long slow decline with a hope for a re-birth and maybe a Kawhi happens for the Warriors but he doesn't lose his mind like the Spurs one did.

Trading Dray shouldn’t be on the table, pay him what that man wants and let him and Curry finish together, you trade Dray your run is over, DLo is one who has to go and Minny might go nuts to make it work

You trade Draymond and the championship window slams shut.
