Re: Chris Paul to the Rockets
Remember when CP3 trashed the Clippers' culture and questioned their willingness to compete on his way out of town? That didn't age well.

The biggest mistake CP3 ever made was not taking a step back and letting Blake be great. His control-freak shtick works well with his fanboys, but actual GMs in this league know better.

They did not work together. Chris kept to his side of the floor, Blake to his.
Even though each got competent at the 3-ball, they are still both 20th century boys.

If Chris Paul got ejected from a regular season game, his career would be over.
1. He gets ejected in the 2018-19 season for punching Rajon Rondo. Served a two-game suspension.
2. Since returning from suspension, his game has taken a major hit. Numbers are down toward rookie numbers, or worse. Also got injured a lot more.
3. Traded to Thunder, officially in rebuild mode.
Does he buyout his contract now?

Hope he doesn't leave a bunch of millions on the table for a buyout, cause for all the takes about his age and his contract, he's still a damn good player. If he somehow ends up on the Lakers for the minimum, they're gonna be really scary.

LeBron doesn't play off the ball and he's supposed to be the PG for the Lakers and Chris doesn't play off the ball either. That fit makes as much sense as Chris Paul and Kobe would've or hell, even Chris and Harden.

Nah, Lebron's always been at his best next to another playmaker, ie- Wade or Kyrie, he can play off the ball just fine. So can Paul, who's turned himself into a pretty good shooter over the years. I actually think he's a perfect fit there and would complement the rest of their team incredibly well. He'd also be awesome next to Davis when Lebron sits down, and would help greatly with guard defense.
He'd have to leave A LOT of money on the table though, but with his age and need for winning something in his career, I wouldn't rule it out.

Kyrie isn't a traditional PG and neither was Wade. LeBron has been the primary ball handler everywhere he's played since high school. Kryie didn't have to worry about setting up the offense, he just needed to score. Kyrie is also a much better 1 on 1 scorer than CP. Two ball dominant players never work together. It's one is the reasons CP and Blake could never truly co-exist

Re: Chris Paul to the Rockets
I completely disagree, you can never have too many ballhandlers and both Wade and Irving were just as much if not more ball dominant than current Paul. I think they'd be great together, and it's not just about Paul and Lebron, he'd fit great with the rest of the team. Their main weakness is they don't have an on ball creator other than Lebron. Vogel is a good coach too, so he'd recognize that they have many ways to run the offense that doesn't involve taking turns to iso, which is one of the main reasons Paul ended up being not that great a fit in Houston.
I think Paul would put them as the main favorites for a title, with some distance too. But he'd have to let go of a few dozen millions, so hopefully it won't happen.

Not just on-court, but off-court. Chris Paul is president of the players union. The vice president is LeBron James, who happens to play on the Lakers. If those two are reunited, not only will Paul get a "free ride" to the Finals, the Lakers will have a major advantage in negotiations, specifically the next collective bargaining agreement, which won't happen until five years from now. What if Paul puts in the next CBA concessions that looks good for the league on paper, but is really to help Lakers return to greatness? Or what if Paul uses his power as head of players union to force trades for certain players?
Was that what David Stern was really concerned about?

Re: Chris Paul to the Rockets
You wouldn't give up a boatload in a trade to put CP and Lebron together, but if CP was a FA after buyout the Lakers certainly should do it.
A buyout with this much money and years left seems unrealistic to me though. I read OKC is willing to give up picks to trade CP's contract, that seems much more likely. Apparently Miami is interested, this is achievable for them vs. trying to figure out a way to get Westbrook.

Re: Chris Paul to the Rockets
It's pretty obvious that CP3 is going to MIA.
MIA is one of the few teams trying to compete and yet have some big and pretty terrible players under contract. Them getting Butler and CP3 this offseason would be a coup. Deal will prolly be Dragic, Leonard, and some non guaranteed minimum contract. That's just enough salary to cover the 125% rule. The only real question is how many future assets MIA can pry out of OKC. The next question is how long it'll take for Butler to want to murder CP3. Butler went to MIA to be the MAN, how is he gonna like it with CP3 chirping in his ear, trying to assert dominance.
it's gonna be hilarious when the two of them try to murder each other on the court.

Not that easy. MIA is hard capped due to the Butler S&T and only about 1mil below the apron. They really need to send out more money than they are getting back.
