Not to derail the thread, but you might be the only person on earth that’s a Sonics/Bills fan. I say this as a bit of a bills fan from Thurman Thomas’ days. Carry on.

It would set them up nicely for 2021 because they could be a playoff team similar to the Nets with incoming draft picks, a veteran presence and at possibly some budding young talent. But then again that would require the Knicks to have competent management.
It doesn’t set them up nicely for 2021 to still be paying Chris Paul $46 million until 2022. They’d want to have hat money available for a FA.

I agree, hard to imagine. OKC, still gets a year less with CP3.
CP3 may have to come to terms with the possibility of getting bought out.

Agreed. I am very impressed with what they got from blowing up team that were destined for 1st round exit every year. Now it feels like they have future.
I don't understand why people are so high on this "collection of picks". Clips and Rockets picks will likely be late first rounders.
I don't get it either. Watch OKC have to give one of their Miami picks back to Miami to trade Paul. Lol.

I would take CP3 if he is waived and we pick him off of waivers for cheap.
Melo needs to stay FAR AWAY from this team. Did you hear what Chauncey Billups said about Melo? Dude doesn't care about wins or losses just as long as he gets his 30 points.

The only realistic way I can see Paul going to Miami, if he were to, would be the following:
OKC receives: Goran Dragic, James Johnson
HEAT receives: Chris Paul, 2023 Miami HEAT 1st Round Pick, 2nd Round Pick
That would take care of the cap issue for Oklahoma City in the coming years and it would create the following situation for Miami:
Miami essentially traded Josh Richardson, Hassan Whiteside, Goran Dragic and James Johnson for Jimmy Butler, Chris Paul and a Second Round Pick.
Not great but not the worst haul for the personnel traded.
I’ll finish this by saying, the HEAT would be better off not trading for Paul.

There is 0% chance he gets waived. And maybe 10% he gets bought out. OKC would have to pay him $100M to go away.
