He takes his $130m contract, weeps into his Benjamins while listening to Will Smith's "Miami" as he's traded. Actually, I find that prospect intriguing for him and the Heat both.

I really don't see the Heat trading for him. He doesn't move the needle as far as Westbrook would've and completely cuts in 2021 capspace at 36 years old. Not to mention having durability issues that Westbrook does not.

If the team wasn't trying to go for 2021 or already had 2 stars then I think Riley would entertain it, but it just doesn't make sense to me in the current scenario.

CP3 while not as good a Westbrook is still an upgrade to what they got.

Not really, not at that price he’s not. Plus he is so high maintenance.

Prob Miami or lakers if somehow he gets bought out but it’s really doubtful, always potential for some team out the blue to come and snag him but that contract is just tough. Would like to see him get somewhere with at least the chance of a deep playoff run but sometimes in the nba great ones just don’t get the ring.

In 2011 the Celtics were ready to offer rondo and pieces to the hornets for cp3. He told them he wouldn’t re-sign bc of the Celtics age. That was his best chance at a ring besides 2018 rockets. Cp3/ray/pierce/kg and they Also were close on a s&t for David west before he went to the pacers but even without west or Paul The Celtics took the heat 7 that year.

Mostly to see who would pick them/disqualify them as an option.

LMAO. OKC isn't going to do that. My guess is there is interest from Miami. They could package Paul with Gallo or Adams and Miami could give up a couple of first rounders along with whoever they want to dump.

If you have Butler, you might as well try to go all in with Paul and another solid vet.

Why the hell would we give up 1st for Chris Paul ... are you out of your mind
The firsts would come into play because OKC can package Paul with Gallo or Adams. Why would OKC give up two firsts when they just traded Westbrook to get two firsts?

They've been dealing with Miami. It's possible the price was too high for Westbrook and it's been discussed that if OKC could get Paul, they'd be willing to make a deal with sides could work with.

What's the point of having Jimmy if you aren't trying to push to win right now with him? CP3 Jimmy and Adams can definitely make some noise.

Interesting. I would think that the Thunder would be the ones sending out the picks as a 'thank you' for getting that awful contract off their hands.

However, if they send over Steven Adams as well for Miami to "salary dump," it could be a good trade. Still, Adams+Westbrook+PG13 didn't work, I doubt Adams+CP3+Butler would. Maybe being in the East will help, but they will eventually lose to either the Sixers, Celtics, or maybe even Raptors.

It puts them in the conversation though. And since they have Butler, might as well try to win now. Maybe Butler was even promised that Miami was trying to win now which is why he went there.

If it doesn't work then try again. Such is life.

CP3 left the Clippers saying that the team was not as committed to winning as they should have been, which sure might have been true with Doc at the helm, but the regime had changed. He didn't want to trust West, and West didn't want to give him the full max either even though Ballmer wanted to. So with his large contract, the Clippers won't tank their depth to get him, upside is not good enough for that.

OKC is stuck with him for this year unless they get some kind of surprise offer (Maybe Wiggins?)
CP's contract is really bad and I can see him breaking down this year.

CP3 trade idea

Post#59 » by Najee12 » Fri Jul 12, 2019 5:10 pm

Here is my trade idea:

Philadelphia gets: Chris Paul and three first-round picks

OKC gets: Ben Simmons

It's a trade that makes sense for both teams. Philadelphia has a lot of size but not a guy who can make midrange shots and be a factor in the halfcourt. Paul with Philadelphia's oversized team makes the 76ers the best team in the East.

OKC gets a young player in Simmons would be a cornerstone player -- a 6-foot-10 point guard who can play multiple positions. The Thunder now have a young player who can keep fan interest; place shooters around Simmons in today's NBA and it's an up-and-coming team in a few years.

he gets traded for the best deal. okc is not beholding to him like they were to westbrook.

although i did hear okc has good ties with the pels as a result of playing 2yrs in okc after katrina and cp3 was very connected to the city for 2yrs. but that was before the sonics moved to okc, so there's really no connection between the thunder and cp3

i think presti mainly wants draft picks. you take that and okc will be a lottery team for a while and the picks they've already accrued
