That is incorrect. The 120 rule applies. So they would have to send out around 30 million

Trade for Chris Paul and sign Melo back on the Knicks.

If Minny can pull it off that would be great.
I doubt Chris Paul is considering Minnesota.

Not the most appealing location compared to Miami and LA but playing with Towns and with the opportunity to revive a long dead franchise. He is also very close to Okogie who he managed on his AAU team, he'd be great next to Culver. If OKC can somehow throw Galo into the deal, a Galo+Covington+Towns front court immediately gets him contending. I'll do it if I was Paul.

Could be wrong but feel like CP3 is way too arrogant to consider a small market team. I don't think Gallo + CP3 would make the wolves contenders but they will be a way better team than Miami, at least for the next 2 years.

If we trade Gallo in the mix and take back contracts back as well (Wiggins, Dieng) I want Okogie (well prefer Culver but we won't get him) and a pick.

Not sure it's a good idea for the Wolves to try to compete right now in the wild wild west.

Paul doesn't have a no trade I am sure they will try and move him to his preferred destination but they are also going to take the best deal

tbh, I'd just use the assets I just got and dump on a team where it would cost me the least amount of picks...

Of course OKC will do what is best in their interest but no team will trade for a 34 years old overpaid Chris Paul if he doesn't want to play for them.

Pistons for Reggie Jackson and Tony Snell plus filler? It would be funny to see the two reunite. Paul could really help playmake for Drummond and Griffin.

I'm calling it now. Dragic, Winslow, Waiters for CP3.

You think the Heat are going to include in a trade a cost controlled asset like Justise Winslow who just turned 23 years old, showed significant improvement last year, is at $13 million flat for the next three years with a team option for the 3rd year, for 34 year Chris Paul with 3 years 123 million on his contract? And has missed 48 games the last two years due to hamstring and knee issues?

I believe Miami is hard capped due to the sign and trade thus they couldn’t take full advantage of the 125% rule.

I don't understand why people are so high on this "collection of picks". Clips and Rockets picks will likely be late first rounders.

That's what Billy King thought too.

It’s pretty BS the president of the NBAPA won’t report to his new team while under contract. Something really needs to be done with trade requests, Paul should forfeit his contract if he doesn’t want to play for OKC.

OKC will need to play this carefully. Paul still has a lot of influence around the league more than we know of. NBA is a circle, if you don't have to piss off one more person, you don't have to do it. I think sure OKC will find a place for Paul, whether a team he wants to go, or a team set up for some sort of contending.

Re your earlier mention of Okogie - yeah, with Culver, he is dispensable.

If chips are his thing...I wonder how much he is willing to give up $$$ to land on a championship level team?

BTW...timing on this stuff for Lakers has really sucked for them. They had the slot....Had Rob Palinka been on top of things and had a clue that this stuff was going on....they could be rolling out LB, AD and CP3 and be the clear favorites for the chip.

What about Charlotte? Paul is from there, and Jordan owns the team. How about Paul for Batum and Zeller? Maybe OKC throws in one of the Houston picks. Paul would have to be ok with a rebuilding situation where he can mentor the young guys.

Detroit means

CP3 is going to be traded for Blake and not them ending up together.

Isn't Black from OK?

How many picks you think the Thunder have to give up for someone to take CP3?

CP3 may have to come to terms with the possibility of getting bought out.

He's going to have to take a major discount to get that done... no chance he's given his full contract

"preferred destination"?

Umm... I don't think there are a bunch of teams lined up and clamoring for him.
