Rockets, Clippers Attempting To Trade For Andre Iguodala

The Houston Rockets and Los Angeles Clippers are attempting to acquire Andre Iguodala from the Memphis Grizzlies, reports Sam Amick of The Athletic.

Iguodala was traded by the Golden State Warriors to the Grizzlies to facilitate the acquisition of D'Angelo Russell.

The Grizzlies are motivated to trade Iguodala and have so far been resistant to a buyout.

2 non-shooters when Westbrook and Iguodala are on the court, while Harden isos? Hard to visualize their offense working unless it is a fast break/in transition.

The Rockets need defense real badly, and that's what Iggy can provide. 17m is a big pill to swallow, but EG+Nene's contracts are close enough to make that move. Losing EG off the bench would hurt the second unit's scoring, he is currently our defacto 6th man. I have no idea what's going to happen any more, it's all so crazy. I hope they make it work, but if they don't, the fireworks from these Rockets will still be spectacular!

Those OKC picks were pushed out further.

They still have their 2020 1st round pick. They also have 2 Pistons 2nd round picks (2021, 2023), which I would think would get it done. They don't really have any bad money though, so the players that it takes to get there might be enough.

Jerome Robinson and Harkless for Iguodala?

they are not trading a main piece like EG for a role player Iggy

Clippers could get it done for Harkless + Robinson + maybe a 2nd round pick.

I think Westbrook will be the starter and 6th man at the same time. They are going to stagger WB and Harden as much as they can

Clippers pretending to trade for Iggy so when he's bought out they can say see we tried to trade for you now come join us instead of Lakers also scared Iggy join a the lakers and guards Kawhi or Paul George..Plus also scared of LeBron of course..

No way I give up Shamet or a first rounder. Iggy was a buyout candidate anyway.

The Rockets really don't have too many assets either. Worse case, I would let Memphis keep him, he will end up demanding a buyout at some point if they don't find a trade partner he wants anyway. Then you can go after him.

I wouldn't trade a first round for iggy tbh, pretty sure that he will get bought out in 8 months and he will go to LA.. the grizzlies are using houston as leverage

They'll happily wait until the deadline when Iggy is the most valuable on the market. Right now there's a bit of a spike with the furious offseason arms race making some people likely to be more impulsive than usual, but the safer bet is sparing minutes with a couple of opportunities to put up some real numbers, and then deal for the playoff race.

Yep he will join the Lakers.. btw got to give some players to make salaries around 80% and you guys overrating shamet pretty hard..
