https://bleacherreport.com/articles/2844987-ranking-the-top-25-nba-summer-league-players-so-far#slide9

5. Nickeil Alexander-Walker, New Orleans Pelicans PG/SG

Stats through two games: 24.5 points, 7.0 assists, 3.5 rebounds, 2.0 steals, 52.8 field-goal percentage, 46.2 three-point percentage

All eyes were locked on Zion Williamson to start the New Orleans Pelicans' summer league experience. As of July 11, the main storyline has instead been the play of Nickeil Alexander-Walker, the team's third first-round pick who's looked more comfortable and commanding than he did down the stretch for Virginia Tech.

While his scoring numbers stand out first, his facilitating has been the more satisfying development from a projection standpoint. He's delivered a number of high-level passes off the dribble, through crowds off ball screens and off penetration. A first-time viewer would believe they were watching a natural point guard, though signs leading up to summer league pointed to Alexander-Walker settling in as more of a secondary playmaker or combo guard.

His 24.5 points per game have been equally impressive, however. He's executed smoothly as a driver, mid-range shot-maker and pull-up shooter.

He has looked SO good to me.

I think this will be the guy that in 2-3 years posters will say "he's the guy I always wanted. I knew he'd be better than PJ. This was "my" guy" - *even though they'd never mentioned him previously

Rather than hindsight, let's call that phenomenon.........Kawhisight.

Spoiler:
* = Swedd being the exception because he discussed and liked him pre-draft

Ha...let me just go on the record as not wanting NAW. I'm accustomed to a steady diet of crow.

Can I go on record and say that Lonnie Walker was the guy that I always wanted us to pick last year. LOL. But seriously, he looks insanely good right now. Id trade miles for him in a heartbeat.

And yeah. Even though we haven't seen PJ play I would definitely go ahead and take in naw if given the chance.

Yeah I had Lonnie and Miles ranked about the same and would have been cool with either one of them. Admittedly, Porter was my dude and that was a mistake.

Also had PJ and NAW ranked about the same. I don’t want to hold it against PJ that he’s not playing but NAW is looking good. I might have him edging out PJ for now but it’s close so whatever

Guys came to play today, up big early. I think this is the start of the actual tournament, right?

edit -actually, we didn't make the tournament, this is a consolation game.
The Charlotte Hornets will win their first round series against the Boston Celtics in the 2021 Playoffs

I wanted to trade back for NAW and Goga.

Its kind of like SGA versus Miles last year. I slightly preferred SGA, but thought Miles was still a good pick at his spot.

I would have slightly preferred trading back for NAW, but I still think PJ was a good pick.

I actually think McDaniels will be fine. He just needs more game play and learn his role. He better hope the coaching staff is patient with him tho

Perkins’ dissects defenses with his passes.

McDaniels might be a 6’8” SG.

Adding a hall of fame PG talent to this group would do wonders for development.

This was McDaniels best game. Come next year we will probably be surprised by his development.

Since the night we drafted him I have felt McDaniels would move to a wing player either SG or SF
