Gordon Hayward, Robert Williams and 2020 Celtics first round pick (lottery protected) for Steven Adams and Andre Roberson

Celtics get a solid center who can defend (Kanter can't). Kemba/Brown/Tatum/Ojeleye/Adams. Thunder get another first round pick and take a chance on Hayward. He is under contract only for another year.

Don't think much of Williams or a lotto prot. 1st. I'd want Romeo back. I think it's more likely OKC keeps Adams.

Celtics dont do this. Roberson has too many question markets. The pick is overkill. I'm not sure they do it without the pick.

My thoughts as well—Roberson is 11M in straight dead money as far as I’m concerned. Take out the pick and I’d consider it as a Celtics fan.

Overpay for Boston, take out Williams and make the pick a 2nd and it’s palatable.

Roberson is dead money with negative value.

If Roberson is negative value at 10m, what is Hayward at over 60m?

#1- Hayward is playable and showed flashes of returning to form. This is his first off season where he gets to participate and gain chemistry with his teammates coming back from a serious leg injury.

#2 Hayward only has 2 years left in said contract, 2020 FA is weak and no need to move his contract at a negative value before his contract expires for the 2021 FA market.

Banking on someone to return to form is a lot easier than banking on someone to get injury free and become relevant

I mean, if I'm betting on Roberson returning to form at $10M for one year or Gordon Hayward at $30M/year over 2 years, I'm taking Roberson. Gordon Hayward is legitimately one of the top 10 worst contracts in the NBA.

Naw not at all. Hayward had an injury that takes 2 years to come back from and hes just starting his 2nd year. He's fine. Roberson is a never was.

Roberson was a DPOY candidate. And you’re free to gamble on Hayward but I don’t think many are interested. He has strongly negative value.

Roberson got 3 3rd place votes and thats it. Does that count as a candidate? I think not. Thats literally that same as saying Whiteside was a candidate or Steven Adams or Marcus Smart. Hayward on the other hand is an actual all star who's returning to form.
