1st round pick for Gallo?

Post#1 » by DeathLineup » Mon Jul 15, 2019 12:54 pm

Can the Thunder get a first round pick for Gallinari?

Like a first round pick and a not too bad contract.

Yes, but probably only a late 1st.

Yes, someone will. There's been quite a bit of interest in him here, if that's reflective of anything.

Yes, but probably only a late 1st.

From my perspective, there are only very few limited teams that might be interested on him. Only the contending teams.

The obvious contenders are Clippers, Lakers, Bucks and Sixers. Those teams don't have the big, bad salaries to dump and match for Gallinari. Next, the fringe contenders. Jazz, Rockets, Warriors and Denver. They still have the same problem.

Joe Ingles and Dante Exum for Gallinari? Don't think that's a good idea. Clint Capela and Danuel House for Gallinari? Nope. D'Angelo Russell for Gallinari? Hell no.

As of now, the closest thing to a realistic offer that I can see is the Hawks offering Turner plus two second round picks for Gallinari. I project Gallinari to net a similar return as Mirotic last season.

Can you explain why the Hawks would do that? I don't see any logical reason.

Only if Hawks overperform.

Or they want to play Collins as center. So they add a top stretch four to really space the floor.

Could make sense for the Spurs if they can dump Mills in the bargain. Something like Patty, Beli and Metu along with the first.

If a late 1st rounder is all it takes, Denver should be able to work something out as long as Barton's in the deal.

Late first for expiring contracts. Obviously more if teams want to send back bad contracts.

Def can get a 1st for him, but they may have to eat a year of salary for someone expiring in 2021.

DAL?

THJ 2025 1st (lotto protected) for Gallo

Bazemore and 2020 lottery protected from Portland was my previous offer.

Only if you eat some bad salary. Watch as Gallo gets hurt and plays only 30 games this season.

This is what I was saying. There's a good amount of interest. I think OKC can pull a decent first out of this with an exp, or a little more with some bad salary.

Bad deal for OKC. Hayward is a negative deal. You need that 1st round pick to dump him So essentially it's Smart for Gallo and Adams. OKC doesn't gain a whole lot as their luxury tax is manageable. I do think Adams has a bad contract, but it's not a world ender because he's still a starting C.

You need more than this.

I'm wondering if a deal for OG (Stud Prospect), Ibaka (Expiring) and 1st for Shai (Stud Prospect), Gallo (Expiring) would work. The 1st from the Raptors is used to cover the perceived talent difference between Shai and OG (which could end up being equal).

Yeah, Gallo isn’t just a quality bench player. He played like an all star last year and he pushed his team to playoffs. Some team will pay for him.

I really don’t like seeing Dallas ideas involving our 2024 or 2025 first. If the cost is over JJ+Lee+2nd, I hope we walk away. And I understand it likely will be over that. We just have no business at that table.

I think the best first round pick can get him with an expiring contract.

Games played since the 2012-13 season

2012-13: 71
2013-14: 0
2014-15: 59
2015-16: 53
2016-17: 63
2017-18: 21
2018-19: 68

I understand Gallo is a useful and skilled player but you have to think for his age 31 season nobody outside of contenders would be willing to trade a 1st for him, and in that situation it’s doubtful they would be sending back a useful player. I think at best they could get a 1st projecting to be 20 something and an expiring contract.
