Doug Gottlieb: “Chris Paul to Miami? Are there any other possible destinations?”

Sam Amick: “Not that I’m aware of. And to be honest with you, right now I’m leaning pretty hard to the idea that Miami isn’t looking too good. I’m not getting indications that they have a ton of interest. Leon Rose, his agent, has deep relationships with the Heat, and Dwyane Wade for all those years was represented by CAA, the same agency… But, right out the gates I had someone whose voice would definitely matter telling me 'NO GO.'”

Sam Presti has no incentive to make a move. Chris Paul is still an allstar. He thinks he can still sell tickets with him, so unless he is getting some future assets, Chris Paul will be with OKC. This year is already taken care of because the NBA teams sell season tickets in advance. He has hope to peddle next year with picks. Chris can help those picks look good.

This is a rude awakening for Paul realizing that the entire NBA does not value the contract he has! Maybe he will be out to prove something in OKC if he is a professional. If Paul is worth the contract, maybe he can get OKC into the playoffs. I doubt that will happen though. The hamstring will probably fail him during the season. Lol

The reason we were able to trade Whiteside was because he had a 1 year deal, a make it or break it season. It would not surprise me to see Whiteside put up good numbers this year. Let see if it equates to winning basketball.

We really will need to shed a ball handler I think before the trade deadline. Jimmy will have it a lot, Justise deserves it too after a nice year of playmaking, and I’m really interested by what is on the bubble with Dion. Goran might have to go or assume a reduced role.

If you tuck into vision of Winslow throughout this past season, he is a very intelligent baller. Really smart passer and can actually shoot now. We should be investing in him.

Hopefully Jimmy is nice to the young fella. I think Dwyane has told him to be

I think the initial reasoning is that Paul wouldn't want to play in OKC. He'd rather go to a team looking towards contending in the playoffs. Media put it out there that Presti would then try to flip him to a preferred destination.

If OKC wanted to do a quick rebuild, having shorter contracts would allow them to have more cap space to supplement their draft picks instead of Paul's 3 year deal.

The popular line of thinking at this time is a pick is worth too much to give up even if it's in the 20s.

However, if Paul goes in to the season as an unhappy camper (not saying he will) and starts causing a ruckus, then Presti will be wondering if that playoff team lottery pick's value was worth holding on to.

Sources are telling me that sources are telling me that Miami might or might not trade for CP3. It has also been noted we might or might not land Beal. I'll keep you guys posted with these ground shattering updates.

No need to look up these fake Twitter insiders. I'm all the fake inside you guys need. The fake insider you deserve.

No, Presti has incentives to make the move. There are now 3 PGs (Paul, SGA, Schroder) and whoever doesn't get their time at PG will create some type of issues that you don't want with a young PG you're wanting to develop. The cap space CP3 is eating up is a huge problem when trying to make trades, you want smaller easier to combine packages. The trades are big because I'm not so sure Presti is rebuilding, unless OKC tanks(and I doubt they will) they won't have any top draft picks, just some lottery and late 1st round picks, to me it sounds like Presti will be going big game hunting(in the next year or 2) and with that, he needs to turn CP3s large contract into multiple smaller ones for more trade package flexibility. There are teams out there if they take a step backward in the next year, could be ready to move some younger good(possibly overpriced) players.

On Whiteside sure, 1 reason he was traded was that he was on a 1-year contract, but the big reason Miami had the ability to move him was because of the situation. Nurkic is down for 1/2 or more of the season and they need a replacement that wouldn't cost them much in assets. I wouldn't be one bit surprised if they already have plans to move Whiteside for someone like K.Love if Nurkic comes back to near 90%.

You're right he should make a move. You got two young point guards out there. Does he have to? I still think the answer is no. There would be some explaining if Chris Paul is not starting if he is still on the roster when the season starts. I am not sure if he is willing to give back picks since his MO is acquiring draft picks which is lots of chances to draft another star.
