OKC/Charlotte/Minnesota - Dec 15th

Post#1 » by Bentley1225 » Tue Jul 16, 2019 7:07 pm

Ill offer this idea for:
-OKC to get back a younger piece and cap flexibility for Paul
-Charlotte gets a veteran starting PG while getting more 2020 cap space and a 1st
-Minnesota swaps out a Wiggins/Teague for Batum/Rozier as Minnesota alters its core to get flexibility long term

To OKC (Trade Paul, Patterson, 2nd)
-Andrew Wiggins (4 years, $122 milion)
-Jeff Teague (1 year, $19 million: buyout/waive)

To Charlotte (Trade Rozier, Batum)
-Chris Paul (3 years, $124 million)
-Patrick Patterson (1 year, $5.7 million)
-2021 Minnesota 1st round pick (some form of protection)

To Minnesota (Trade Teague, Wiggins)
-Terry Rozier (3 years, $58 million)
-Nic Batum (2 years, $52.7 milion)
-2021 OKC 2nd round pick

Why?
-OKC gets further 2020 cap flexibility by swapping Paul/Patterson for Wiggins/Teague. They can buyout/waive Teague to let Alexander and Schroder play majority of minutes while Teague can sign with contender

Alexander/Schroder/FA?
Roberson/Fergusson/Diallo
Wiggins/Bazley/Burton
Gallinari/Muscala/Nader
Adams/Noel/FA?

-Hornets land Paul as they swap out Rozier for Paul, include Batum to make money work and get a 1st for additional $ absorbed

Paul/FA?/Graham
Monk/Bacon/Martin
Miles/MKG/McDaniels
Williams/Washington/Patterson
Zeller/Hernangomez/Biyombo

-Minnesota clears out long term money by swapping PGs/SFs at the expense of a 2021 1st round pick while getting back a 2021 2nd.

Rozier/Napier/FA?
Cullver/Okogie/Graham
Batum/Layman/Diop
Covington/Vonleh/FA?
Towns/Dieng/Bell

If Paul is unhappy in OKC, things aren't going to be better in Charlotte. That's a bad team without Kemba. Plus, the F.O. has to deal with a fan base that is immediately going to ask why they didn't max Kemba if they're willing to eat Paul's contract.

Jarret Allen isn’t winning you anything. Garland won’t show up in the playoffs. Mobley is a glorified dunk man. Mitchell has some experience but is a liability on defense. To me, the Cavs are a treadmill team.

Well the ability to dump Batum and get a 1st for acquiring Paul instead of supermaxing Walker :)

Wolves want flexibility in the next 2 years and this actually takes that away.

This is a no go for Minnesota.

Definite no from wolves. Both Batum and Rozier are bad contracts. While it shortens Wiggins contract it costs an important first and adds to cap issues in 2020-2021. Dont think I'd do wiggins and teague for batum and rozier much less add a first.
