If trading CP3 allows Miami to trade for Beal AND contend, it increases CP3's trade value (or at least it decrease his negative trade value).
The Heat needs to find some common ground here. They want to have 5-6 assets (counting the ones they already have) while getting CP3 for scrubs.
The Heat are being stubborn. They want the 21 FA class (2 years away). I think its time to move on from a Heat deal, just keep their picks and see if Minny would do it for Teague and Dieng. Teague could be re-routed at the deadline while Dieng will play out the next two years here in OKC.
Minnesota wouldn't do that deal without someone taking on Wiggins. They don't want 2 bad contracts on their roster.
Wiggins salary - 2020, 27.5m / 2021, 29.5m / 2022, 31.6m / 2023, 33.6m
Dieng salary - 2020, 16.2m / 2021, 17.3m
Combined salary = 2020, 43.7m / 2021, 46.8m / 2022, 31.6m / 2023, 33.6m
CP3 salary - 2020 38.5m / 2021, 41.4m / 2022 44.2m
Financial difference for Minnesota = 2020, -5.2m / 2021 -5.4m / 2022 +12.6 / 2023 -33.6m
Minnesota trade - (Wiggins, Dieng) for (CP3, Howard)
OKC trade - (CP3 38.5m, FRP) for (Dieng 16.2m, Hill 12.8m, Crowder 7.8m)
Memphis trade - (Hill, Crowder, Howard) 25m expiring for (Wiggins 27m, OKC FRP)
- Minnesota swap 2 bad contracts for a slightly shorter option at a position of need without having to add any incentive, save 26m with the option to buyout Howard.
- OKC being 2.5m over the luxury tax, shed 4m in trade, net 20.6m expiring, save 87.3m off CP3's contract, for a FRP asset.
- Memphis Consolidate their 19 man roster in a (3-1) trade into Wiggins for a quality FRP.
