THJ, Mud, , and Kev were given the Keys to lead the tank that's all, we all know they would never be starters on a contending team. So why complain when they looked bad? Cant say tank for Zion and pull Kev and THJ in the same sentence. This year I don't expect Kev to get the nod to start over Morris.

So what did we need a coach for at all last year?

i was under the impression that fiz was a developmental coach.

i was hoping he'd be quick with his leash, especially with the young guys. preach defense, and an offense that would be used for future years.

if given a short leash, the tank would've been fine.

I think the Knicks FO and Fiz had several issues hindering their approach towards developing these guys:

1) They young guys did not have NBA level talent to learn from or push them for playing time
2) With such little talent around the young guys, each of them were asked to play a bigger offensive role without anything to help them out. DSJ is a creator and slasher but had no shooters and few finishers around him when on the floor. It's hard to evaluate these guys when LFT, Vonleh, etc. were playing big minutes and weren't even being guarded outside of the paint. We need to see how these guys look when DSJ actually has guys to pass to when he draws the defense in. We need to see if Knox's drives look better when the defense isn't sagging the paint.

I truly believe that this year is going to be a lot different than last year for the young guys. I don't think Fiz or the FO want any young guy to have a season like Knox did last year. I think they way they brought Mitch and Trier along is how they prefer to approach development. Small baby steps.

yes. knox looks better. even i'll admit that. not great. i still don't think he'll reach adequate defense or IQ, but he's showing a drive finally.

i think they saw what knox did last year and don't want a repeat - i hope they still regret not taking mikal, who would've been a much better fit and mold, as well as guy the knicks needed. even knox admitted that he didn't have a great season last year, which i think is huge.

He'll make for a good camp body at first, then get a year to develop in Westchester. Nice move. If the Knicks make a trade, maybe at some point he gets a call up, after the trade deadline.

I like RJ's ability to finish layups even when hit. He looks pretty big out there.

Not summer league, but it's hard not to be encouraged by how RJ played and basically ran the offense against this Syracuse zone, when Zion was out

Didn’t know that the Knicks already signed Amir Hinton to an Exhibit 10 deal:

Two-Way: Kadeem Allen and Kris Wilkes
Exhibit 10: Amir Hinton and Kenny Wooten

Was thinking about the Washington matchup in the preseason.

The Knicks looks pretty good vs them positionally. There roster is pretty rough, I feel like besides Beal, the Knicks bench is better than their starters.

https://www.espn.com/nba/team/roster/_/name/wsh/washington-wizards

In another way they can be dangerous because their best player is better than new York's.
Beal is better than randle.
Would say their 2nd best player is hachimura. That's not saying much right. Obviously rj or mitch is better but the level of separation from here on out isn't that much.

Would say Knicks takes 4 out of 5 after the Beal matchup because most of the their roster are unmentionable guys but the rest of the Knicks roster would have to hold up their end of the bargain.

There is no summer league left to discuss - we should let this thread slowly fade into the mist and try our hardest to find something actually relevant to talk about.

Or this could become the new home of the Russian Ron Baker fan club.
