Hornets
Gary Harris (3 years)

Nuggets
MKG (expiring)
Monk

New lineup

Rozier
Harris
Bacon
Miles/PJ
Cody/PJ

I'm here for this.

Back in 2016, I've been hoping for Cho to trade for one of Denver's guards — Murray/Harris/Beasley. Murray ended up being the best in that trio obviously so maybe the asking price for Harris isn't steep.

My thinking is the front office values 2-way players like Rozier, Bacon, Miles and PJ. This deal turns a couple one-way players (Monk offense, MKG defense) into a single 2-way player (Harris). It targets him on a down year and before the whole league gets obsessed with 2-way rosters. For the Nuggets it gets them out of a long term contract where they have a surplus in the backcourt.

All 2-way lineup, small ball modern NBA model.

Terry Rozier
Gary Harris
Dwayne Bacon
Miles Bridges
PJ Washington

It's missing a superstar. The bet is Monk won't become one and his lack of 2-way potential limits his ceiling even further.

We would have 2 drafts to get that star scorer. Rozier + Harris fit a 3-year rebuild. They won't be playoff contenders but they should steady the development while the team collects assets.

0 chance the Nuggets trade for MKG after having lived through Faried
My picks:
2020 Draft (3rd pick) - Tyrese Haliburton, Devin Vassell, or Onyeka Okongwu
2021 Draft (11th pick) - Moses Moody

The key to this deal is Monk and an expiring for a long contract where they have a surplus in their backcourt.

The deal is Monk + cap space for Gary Harris

MKG is just filler.

Interesting, but the timing is bad for Denver. The Nuggets have aspirations of competing this year at a very high level and taking their best shot, and this trade hurts their chances.

I think Denver wants to ride this roster at least this upcoming year and maybe 1 more year after that before they make changes.

Yep...just don't think they are willing to weaken their roster for this year

Well they'd have Marvin on an expiring backing Millsap and Barton rather than Harris on a 3 year backing Morris.

Edit: And also Beasley

I definitely think the Nuggets would be interested in moving Harris. A three team trade where we send out assets and an expiring to get back a better fitting younger player makes sense. I really want Brandon Ingram on this team, so I'd be willing to give up a few assets to get him here.

DEN out Harris, Plumlee, Craig
DEN in Monk, Biyombo, Willy, Moore

CHA out Monk, Biyombo, Bacon, Willy
CHA in Plumlee, Ingram, Jackson

NOP out Ingram, Moore, Jackson
NOP in Harris, Bacon, Craig

And then we follow that up by sending Marvin to the Mavericks for Courtney Lee.

Rozier/Graham
Lee/Martin/Jackson
Ingram/Batum/McDaniels
Bridges/MKG
Zeller/Plumlee/Washington

Follow up deal: Biz (expiring) for Dieng (2 years) + 2 Wolves 2nd rounders.

Cody - Dieng

The TL:DR is a Cav's fan proposing MKG for Jordan Clarkson.
My picks:
2020 Draft (3rd pick) - Tyrese Haliburton, Devin Vassell, or Onyeka Okongwu
2021 Draft (11th pick) - Moses Moody

I'm not sure what this does, unless the plan is to exchange a wing for someone who can play PG? Meh

This move makes zero sense now. Maybe last year it makes more sense, but I’d rather hold MKG and see how he plays in a contract year (even though it likely doesn’t matter) than switch for Jordan Clarkson who will also be a FA. If we want another PG let’s just go get Jeremy Lin.

I'm actually really annoyed that neither Marvin nor MKG have been moved yet. One of them needs to go to open up playing time for Bridges and Washington.

It’s technically not their faults, but if one or both of them opted out of their final year I suspect Kemba would still be here. The thing is I think Marvin would’ve been able to secure 3 years and make more than his salary this year. MKG, not so much. 2016 off season is the gift that keeps on giving.

I doubt that, Kemba wants to win and we aren't in a position to do that.

On topic if Marvin would have been able to get a 3 year contract and we still haven't found a taker for him then Mitch isn't doing his job. I'm really confident that either the Pelicans or Mavericks would swap expiring players with us.

Just like the reason OKC hasn’t dealt CP3 yet is why we still have Marvin. After free agency is worst time to try and make a trade.

First off half the league is legally not able to be traded right now.

Second everybody thinks they filled their holes in FA, just like UNCNYC general managers tend to see the best in a guy and will believe in them until they fail.

Third their value is super low because a team assumes the worst. Just like CP3, his value has been brought down by media. He will still put up 16 and 7 in limited minutes for OKC at worst.

Teams will want to see Marvin healthy and knocking down nearly 40%. He is doing that he could get us a late first from the right team.

I really hope the team can get a 1st round pick for Marvin. Also, if we aren't going to pay Bacon, and I'd argue we shouldn't given that the team is just starting a rebuild, then it would be wise to send him out with Marvin as well to get a better asset coming back.
