I like them a lot. They have so much talent and depth I probably wouldn't call the prediction bold. It all depends on how fast Coach Gentry can integrate the team and bring young players along. With veterans Favors and Holiday anchoring the D, they already have a good start for defense. I like our team better for this regular season record and playoffs, but for the long run, I would trade our entire roster and contracts for the Pelicans' roster and contracts.

ESPN, NBC Sports and CBS Sports have the Pels ranked #9, #11 and #10 respectively for west power rankings. 538.com has them ranked #9 for projected win-loss record. I suspect some of the power rankers are sleeping on how good Favors is. I am already worried about the Jazz head to head matchup with the Pels.

Yeah, I wouldn't call that bold at all. In fact I wouldn't be shocked to see the pels right there with us fighting for a middle tier playoff spot. If the starting lineup ends up being Lonzo, Jrue, Ingram, Zion and Favors then I have that as the best defensive starting lineup in the league. Spacing offensively may be an issue with that lineup though because they don't have any above average outside shooters but they would be scary in the open court. Just by changing Lonzo with Redick opens things up quite a bit though. They are also really deep. Especially at the wing positions. In the end I think Jrue, Zion and Ingram will all average around 20 points a game with Favors and Redick around 15 so they should have plenty of firepower to go with that incredible defense.

Just want to say I'm looking forward to seeing Haywood play with Kanter in the same lineup again.

I remember how much he enjoyed it that last year before Anus demanded a trade.

The Celtics have dropped from +620 championship odds last season to +2000 championship odds this season. The now departed Horford and Baynes both finished in the top twenty for centers on DRPM last season. Kanter finished second to last at #69 out of 70. I don't know much about the Celtics' younger big men, but it appears that the starting job is Kanter's to lose. We'll see whether or not Brad Stephens can coax some more D out of him. I enjoy watching Kanter's rebounding and offense around the basket.

Rudy Gobert is locked in a tight battle with Karl Anthony Towns for rank #13 in the General Board, Top 25 Player Poll in case anyone wants to give Rudy a vote.

This really shows how huge NBA players are. It sometimes gets lost because they're next to each other on the court and they're all big, but when you see them next to regular folks, like in this video. Damn, that dude looks like a cyclops.

The real decision the Jazz FO is making is between Continuity, Cap Flexibility, and Cash Considerations.

The Jazz should be trying to do something similar with Gobert. I wonder if he would take that much of a discount?

The Warriors are so good at getting their players to to take less money.

I imagine it's easier when you have a few championships under your belt...

Also, I don't think it was a discount at all. No one was offering a max contract to Green. No one. He's getting paid exactly what he's worth/borderline overpaid the last 2 years of that contract.

I wouldn't be so sure. Dray is still one of the better players in the league, and he's famous. Really good players with a name almost always get a max.

He also didn't sign anything close to the max. 2 years from now when the cap is higher. Everybody decent is going to be getting max contracts starting at $40M+, Draymond at 2/$53 is going to look like a steel. Gobert's contract will be be more than 250% of Green's. 4/$100 vs 5/$255.
