Western Conference Summer League Chatter

Post#1 » by Smitty731 » Tue Jul 30, 2019 12:33 am

Hey All!

As I do annually, I emptied out the notebook and recorder from Summer League. Here is everything from the Western Conference teams:

Enjoy!

I think this season's Warriors might have been the worst summer league team I've ever seen.

They were boring though.

Jacob Evans dribbling the air out of the ball on every possession was not exciting lol...

As to the OP...thanks Smitty. I always enjoy reading your summaries.

Really? I enjoyed watching Smiley and Poole. There was no reason to even watch the last couple of years.

I enjoyed watching Evans development throughout the league. He's clearly someone that will excel playing with better, more dynamic players. He's a dedicated role player and he'll do great with all the little things, the hustle plays. He'll pass when he's supposed to, dribble into a passing lane when he needs to and take the shots he's supposed to. He's not Iguodala but he'll be a sort of cross between Iguodala and Livingston.

I was glad for the experience Evans got, but I don't think they did this to make him a backup point-guard, or to ever be the primary ball handler. I think they wanted him to get minutes handling the ball so he is comfortable in the half-court as a second or third ball-handler.
This movie is like the Rocky Horror Picture Show where everyone knows all the lines.

It seems to me Kerr wants every player on the floor capable of basic ball handling and decision making. I think he almost prefers quality thinking above any other skill.
