Guess Portland doesn't think highly enough of Simons to let McCollum walk....

Looks like he may start for a new team next season. CJ, Dame, Nassir...
Not sure we have room for him, but if we can steal him with a Nappier trade, I'm good with that.

So is this you saying/confirming that you think Simons isn't any good, or are you just try to add a cherry on top your skepticism from the other thread?

It is possible for teams to have a glut of good players in the same roles. It is likely why someone proposed him as a possible trade target. Portland is doing the wise thing if you ask me, as they are paying the proven guys they have first. Contrast that to what the Wolves have often done which is pay the unproven younger ones and let the proven vets walk rather than pay them.

Which proven vet did they let walk that they should they have signed?

Name all the ones they paid to stay and then play, and in doing so would have helped build some kind of continuity from season to season around here. People are pleading for some kind of identity around here. Well, what should that identity have been the last 5 years? The Fortnite Brawlers? Anyone over the age of 25 is treated like they are washed up garbage by a bunch of ignorant people. Where are all the FAs they signed or traded for over the years? How long did they stay? How could they have become leaders here on such short stints?

I wouldn't get much support if I named a bunch of players I think could have stayed and helped over the years. I think there were some but I know what most of you think. The most recent one we moved from was Rubio. Our youngest players didn't want to learn from him, didn't respect him, and we sided with those young players and rookies. The team could have kept him and in doing so chose or retained an identity which could have showed the young players what they had to fall inline with instead of watching them fumble the last two years with their big heads leading them nowhere.

I've always been a fan of Rubio, because we always played so much better with him on the court than not. I know his shooting % was below ideal, but his distribution, rebounding and Defensive skills from the PG position easily made up for any shooting deficiencies. He was actually young when we traded him. IIRC 25. Tall PGs like Rubio also age much better than shorter ones. It's a statistically proven fact I've seen before, but don't ask me for a link. Oh well I wish him well with Phoenix.

Noooo! Jamal Murray has dropped out of team Canada. I wish NBA players wanted to do FIBA more, it would be so fun to see all these teams go head up but so many players are dropping out. Ugh. Really disappointed.

I don't think they get paid to represent their country. Sad, but that is the reason.

How many future second round picks we have? It might be one realistic way to find young players on team friendly contracts. I underrated SRPs in trade scenarios, but it seems that seems like it might be very helpful in our situation. Reid, Nowell contracts are really good deals considering their fit and potential.

Team USA may be in big trouble. They would probably be dead if so many NBA players weren't skipping their national teams. I hope FIBA is still fun even though very few players are taking it seriously.

That’s right. A team led by guys like Scottie Hopson, Chris Chiozza and Justin Anderson took it to Team USA in the 10-minute scrimmage and won by 19 points (36-17). Seriously, look at this roster. Jeff Van Gundy pulled off some coaching magic.

Team USA gonna have their hands full. NBA player don't care to do anything anymore outside of the regular season and playoffs. Wonder if this will trickle down to the Olympics too. Can't get player to show up for FIBA, rookie are now starting to pass on summer league. Sheesh. things have gone down hill for hardcore NBA hoops fans. Gonna have half the roster boycotting pre-season next.

I was looking for the right thread to discuss Culver's standing among rookies and had to go 6 pages back to find this thread. Rather than give my personal opinion I will give the most recent NBA.Com rookie ladder from 1/16/20.

Culver comes in at 4 right behind Sekou Doumbouya. Zion not on the list as he hasn't played yet.

It was a post about the rookie ladder. Maybe around the league, but not a JC post specifically.
