While getting a pitcher was paramount I dont subscribe to just dealing the young stars of the team.

Also Cashman has done a not a good job, an excellent job loading the farm. Some of these teams just want to slam the Yankees, aka 1 ready young front line player and multiple picks. More than what's asked for from others.

I do have a conspiracy that teams try to fleece Cashman for their pitchers, those teams have all the cards in that situation, thats all the more reason it was stupid to not sign Corbin (too many years and and NL pitcher) fine ok could have signed Morton, at least could have signed Keuchel who wouldve been a rental. If we had gotten Corbin or Morton, and Keuchel things would look dramatically different as far the rotation goes. This is gonna be a very telling year for Rothschild. Were gonna have to get lucky to beat the Astros you gotta hope and pray Sevy, Tanaka, Paxton, and German catch fire. Also you couldve traded Happ to an NL team like the Phillies for prospects.

Agreed. You gotta hold your ground and not allow teams to think they can get more because you have a loaded farm

Read the Mets offered to flip Stroman for Garcia and Florial but Yankees said no. Would you have done it? I'm undecided

Our farm's not that loaded anymore. It's more about the Yankees tax.

Shoulda just paid the damn money when we could have.

Hell no.

Mets got him for much less. I’m not giving up those two for Stroman. Thor, yes.

It must be that Greinke refused to waive his no trade clause for us.

Astros are winning 99% of the time this year. We have no chance. Time to plan for next year. Unfortunately Houston will have Verlander and Greinke for the next 3 years.

Greinke didn’t have the Yankees on his no-trade clause list.

Wouldn’t hold my breath on it.

Even so, I felt teams were dealing with them with bad intentions.

I was hearing offers like Wheeler for Gleyber lol.

Yeah, he almost definitely had them on his no trade list. It's been talked about for years how he wouldn't accept a trade to the Yankees.

He's also a guy who has shied away from the spotlight forever. Didn't like being on the cover of SI. Doesn't want to throw a no-hitter because of the attention. He was never coming here.

Totally agree.

Additionally, Along with Clint who many experts project as a future all-star, this kid here was the deal breaker for most asking prices:

Clarke Schmidt
https://www.newsday.com/sports/baseball/yankees/yankees-clarke-schmidt-1.34309798

IMO Yankees have a number of great pitching prospects, like Domingo German who are slowing being brought up and producing. If not for prospects like Domingo, this injury-prone Yankees season would have been a wash and we would not even be talking about a World Series chance.
Again, IMO a starting rotation lead by a healthy Severino and Domingo German will be competing for chips way past Verlander's effectiveness (see Chris Sale).

Should of traded him a long time ago, I knew he wouldn't make it to be great. Might be a good relieve pitcher/ spot starter but I don't see him being even a 3rd or 4th starter here. Should of packaged him with others for a better pitcher when experts were blowing his name up.
