Any info on logo rebranding, uniforms, court, etc. that Ross was talking about?

These are the same folks that did the "don't vote for Vooch" allstar thing. All corny, all the time.
Woj is the new Bucher. Shams is the new Woj. Espn is the new TMZ. The NBA is the new WWE.

I think it's like saying "team first" since we don't have any superstars

Disappointed that we are clearly sticking with the current "shooting star" logo.

I was hoping for something new or a return to the original ball logo.

Def Swami wrote:Eh could always be worse (the Celtics went with "C Us Rise" last season). I've given up on my gripes about the Magic marketing team. They've been pretty underwhelming for awhile now and I just accept that they'll never land it perfectly. I wasn't a huge fan of "Pure Magic" at first, but it actually just started to garner some steam with me. Despite every fans' cry to just go back to the 90's logo and jerseys, we've maintained the status quo for the last 12 years. The in-game operations and entertainment has been stale and uninspired.

I think the better slogans usually incorporate a play on the team name and nails the culture they're trying to promote. "Above All" is a worthy culture to promote, but (and maybe I'm naive here) it doesn't really play into the team name. The better slogans around the league IMO include the Jazz's "Take Note", the Bucks' "Fear the Dear", the Raptors' "We the North", the Bulls' "See Red", the Grizzlies "Grit N' Grind." But "Magic Above All" is simply okay. Sure, they're promoting a culture of family. They might have been able to go an extra step and either relate it more to the team name or some aspect of the city. At least it's not "WE WILL" :noway: .

This is another sign that the Magic are seem to be gearing up for a full on rebuild. Even the press release doesn't feature the most recent Orlando Magic logo; it's just "Magic Above All" in a different font with our secondary logo (the curved ball with stars following). The press release's language hints toward this as well with "This new brand campaign turns the page on the next chapter of Orlando Magic history." Besides the new City jerseys and court, I'll be disappointed if they run back the same logo, main court, and jerseys. It's long overdue.

I logged in just to like this comment. I think you nailed the fact that putting Magic behind above all does not flow in any way. In my opinion, the slogan is ambiguous and very much up to personal interpretation. When I first read it I thought it meant team above all, but when I watched the video, turns out "Magic Above All" means all sorts of different things and is apparently intended to support a variety of meanings. In my view, the best slogans are not only short, but provide a singular message that is easy to understand by simply reading it. Like "Jazz Take Note" for example. "Jazz Take Note" fits the music theme and it is easy to identify that the idea is to pay attention to what we are doing because it is going to be special.

In all, the slogan will not affect my enjoyment of this season in any measurable way, but it is certainly one of the more forgettable slogans I have seen.

Does this mean David Steele will stop staying Pure Magic? Because I am all for that.
The hero Orlando deserves is out there somewhere, Dwight was not the one we needed. So we will hunt for him...

I dunno how some of these "creatives" hold down jobs. Actually, I do, organisations like the Magic pay them for half-assed mediocrity.

Right off the top of my head, I could prob think of 5 better slogans and I don't work in the industry. I bet most on here could too.

The marketing team can use some resurgence in some hype guys who can bring a mix of fire and dynamic to the marketing squad.

The logo is the second worst in the league and at least the Clippers one has heritage. The City Edition jersey was the tamest and least interesting in the whole league. The old unis are more popular than the current ones by a mile (though I'm not as big a fan as many are). These marketing guys have been failing for quite some time now on the creative side. As tricky as it is to create good imagery and slogans from such an abstract brand as "Magic", these guys have consistently aimed low and still missed.

When you get it right the first time, then change it for the sake of it.

Slogan should be simple and catchy and once it sticks it's pointless to change him because it becomes recognizable.

Eh, 'Pure Magic' was better. Kind of better, at least.

At least it isn't that playoff slogan we once used, 'Code Blue'. You know, the hospital code for 'requires immediate resuscitation'? :-?

Pretty funny on Code Blue. I wonder what is code for long term resuscitation before this team broke out of it's six year coma?
