Basically a 3year 20m deal, and can keep him for the 4th if he blows up.
A+ deal, considering all the stupid deals handed out this summer.
Ultimately the lens to view Zubac as a Clipper is that he is all upside for us, considering that we got him for free, he was a clear upgrade over Marcin Gortat last year even if he had left as a RFA, and his new contract is very team-friendly. He is a nice young center with good footwork, overall awareness, and rim protection ability, and at the very least looks to be developing some spacing ability on offense (just enough to be a credible threat is good enough for now, a little pick-and-pop action, etc.) He also seems like a really good kid and hard worker, and knows where his bread and butter is even as he works to broaden his game.
This is not to blow it out of proportion and pretend the Lakers gave us an All-Star center or anything. But we did get him at the right time, just as he was starting to develop some consistency and comfort level on the NBA floor. I really like Zubac and am pretty certain the last 2 years of his contract are going to be an even better value, its hard for me to imagine a scenario where we let him go after 3 years unless there's some external extenuating circumstance. It's not like we have any available money to bring in any sort of significant center upgrade anyway.
