This is part of the "trade Blake for a superstar SG" move?

Re: Pistons sign Super Cool Beas
Such a talented offensive player.
Saw him live (and up close, great seats) at a Bucks v. Cavs game in Feb, 2017. It was a stretch of games where Beasely was getting major PT due to injuries, and was locked in. Lebron & the Cavs had no answer for him whatsoever. They could not stop him. The Bucks gave him the ball on the block, and he just went to work. Had 11 points in the first 9 minutes. Unfortunately, he went down with a knee injury near the end of the 1st quarter, and his season was over.

no need for me to write a think piece on Michael Beasley.. bottom line is it's a good move.

Releasing him would put us into the tax still unless he took a $1.6M buyout, which he probably wouldn't. I mean I guess it's possible as he'd get a vet minimum deal elsewhere to make him whole. But his expiring is valuable to the Pistons at least until the trade deadline.
This is Wood vs Beasley for the last roster spot as both have vet minimum non-guaranteed contracts it seems. We're about $200K under the tax threshold when we choose whichever to keep.
Outside chance Khyri Thomas is jettisoned for a future SRP, I'm not sold on the guy as he looks a step slow and didn't show out in SL when he should have - but that isn't a move I'd support either.

This is a great signing. How can you not like this. The dude likes weed. So does 80% of the country. Beasley can score. Better than signing some Bum that sucks.

Feel like his whole career has been wasted. He has had some pretty good Shaqtin a Fool moments though

I'm not sure the need for Beasley. I don't see him getting regular minutes so what's the point. Unless someone like Galloway or Thomas are moved, does it really make sense? I also don't think that Wood was claimed to be waived.

I don't know about that. If 80% of this country liked weed it would have been legal EVERYWHERE a looong time ago. Last figures I saw were that about 11% of the population are regular users with about double that having smoked it at least once in the past year, and about 55% having tried marijuana at least once.

Yeah, 5 games.
Heard his mom was dying from cancer at the time of his positive test. Can be excused.
Funny, 'cause I heard he was just a pot head. Because he is. It's not a secret.

Does Noah want more money or something? I'd rather sign him.

Low risk, high reward scorer who can take it to hoop and shoot 3's. Better than Glen Robinson. I dig it.

With Blake and Kief I have no idea how Beasley is getting minutes. He is very talented and I like him a lot for the minimum. We added 2 guys who can give us decent production in case Blake goes down, we had none last season, the FO did a good job this offseason. Wood is probably gone.

Re: Pistons sign Super Cool Beas
I enjoy watching Beasley’s offensive game but this doesn’t seem like a good fit.
With a team trying to change the culture to a more blue collar attitude, signing a guy who’s been known to lack commitment is confusing.
I’m really interested to see what role could make sense for him.
I know that he’s know for bad defense. Can he guard bigger wings or strictly 4’s?

Re: Pistons sign Super Cool Beas
More I think about this, the more I think there is another move happening soon. You don't claim Christian Wood and then already basically look to potentially replace him sight unseen. I think we need to bring in a true center type. Maybe there is a 2-for-1 trade where we trade Maker and Galloway for a $11M center. Or Maker and Thomas for a $5M center.
Maker is crud, and he asked out of Milwaukee for playing time - now he's not going to get it here on a worse team playing behind Griff, Kieff competing potentially with Wood, Beasley and Doumbouya.

I think we’re trading for Chris Paul on 8/21 when Snell can be traded with other players. Trading for CP is a trademark win-now Gores move.
