He was probably scheduled to be cleared around this time, but doctors probably decided he needs another week or so.

The team is very similar to the 2014 team which was very young.

No one knew the 2014 team would produce multiple MVP caliber players and all-stars.

Curry was not yet an MVP, Irving was in his 3rd year, Davis was in his 2nd year, Demar has just made the all-star team, Gay was passed his prime, Harden had just become an all-star, Klay was a rising star, Faried was a very solid role player etc.

Most analysts said it was one of the worst USA teams assembled. Looking back it was pretty damn talented, but the elite players at the time like Lebron, Wade, Bosh, Durant, Westbrook, Kobe, Paul, Griffin, George, Carmelo etc. chose not to play and guys like KD pulled out right before the tournament started.

USA really can afford 2 to 5 NBA pullouts or more.

For Canada, if one NBA player doesn't play, it makes things a lot harder. 4-5 players pulling out and they're screwed.

Team USA might still end up winning the world cup just because other teams are missing guys as well. This is truly one of the worst teams USA has assembled.
