Drury's suddenly actually doing effective baseball things. From July 1st, in exactly 100 PAs, he's hitting .309/.330/.596 with an 18% K rate and 8 HRs. Probably just a hot stretch, and the walk rate remains appalling, but worth seeing whether he can keep it up.

He also brings value from his defensive versatility.

It may be imagination, but it sure feels like Hernandez plays better when there's more competition for a job. I wish he could find some more consistency - we could use this version of Hernandez in the lineup for many years.
Nick Nurse recounting his first meeting with Kawhi:
“We could have gone forever. (Raptors management) kept knocking on the door and I was like, ‘A couple more minutes.’ Because we were really into it."

Yeah, I'm still pretty dubious that he can make enough contact to be more than merely below-average at a lot of things, which is suboptimal as a utility player (the Frank Menechino School of Versatility, basically), but if he keeps hitting a bit through the end of the season, he has probably earned a roster spot for next year.

His infield defense is pretty good. He’s not going to be a defensive replacement in the outfield, but it helps to be competent out there. Can play there occasionally.

Why is this forum so dead? weird because the jays are such a fun team to watch right now. A part from our pitching which is suspect at times, the young players have made me fall back in love with this team.

Twitter, mainly, Reddit to a lesser extent. Forums in general just get a hell of a lot less traffic than once they did.

I lurk here quite often. Can't say I know as much as people like Schad and Vaff, but I like to think I am fairly present.

If Drury can be something... there's NO reason to limit him for the sake of Smoak. Move Smoaky in the offseason.

Vlad will be at 1st sooner than later -- so you move him there immediately next year and give Drury 3rd. Your opening day infield is Drury/Bichette/Biggio/Guerrero.

Drury fits in quite well here for now. Maybe he develops into something a little extra and becomes a pretty good trade chip. So we build him up until Groshans/Hiraldo/Smith are ready and then extract the value we made. We can't make this value if we keep him on the bench for the sake of Smoak at 1st and Vlad at 3rd.

I watch every now and again. They have been fun lately. But it's hard to say much since you can't complain about young players learning on the job and the team is not expected to win anyway.

Most of them are collected in the trade and Atkins threads though. Those threads still have the most activity in here.

Bichette's BABIP is currently .468. That's sustainable, right? I'm thinking ARod only fun and not an obnoxious idiot. Hopefully I haven't set the bar too high. Bo is just incredible.

I just watched Odor's home run from last night's game. He hit it with the Rangers down 17-2 at the time, and it may be the most pimped HR of all time. We're talking next, next level pimping. LOL.
