Walker had bum knees by year two. Pitino told him to gain weight to play pf. He was a offensive initiator when healthy.

He's a fatass, a chucker, and plays little to no defense. The only fans who would defend him are heat fans because he made wide open 3's playing next to Wade\Shaq.

Does it? They were only good that one season and after Walker left, the Celtics were terrible. Funny enough the one season he came back (in 05), was the only other time Boston managed to finish above .500 before KG saved the day.

Antoine Walker is one of the most overrated and terrible chuckers of all time. He defines the saying, never took a bad shot in his life. He isn't a "product of the time" as someone said. He'd be the same player regardless of what era he played in.

I also remember when Charlotte was doing their expansion draft, Danny Ainge put Walker on the draft list, which surprisingly, wasn't picked up.

The funny thing about that is taking that many while only shooting 33% wouldn't even make you blink twice now. Westbrook just averaged 5.6 a game while shooting 29%. The problem is he wasn't efficient with his 2 pt shots either. He never once in his entire career ever shot 50% on his two point field goals. The year he averaged a career high 23.4ppg he only shot .439% in the 2 pt range...that's atrocious for any star player regardless of what position he plays, but especially piss poor for a PF. The fact that he didn't get to the ft line much didn't help. (21.2 shot attempts to 4.1fta's that season) His career high in ts% is a pathetic .524%. In the 12 seasons he played he was only even above 50%ts TWICE. I could never stand his ass.

One of those is Antoine Walker, the other is Kobe Bryant.

Thank you. The hate he's gotten here is pretty short sighted.

He made an impact for multiple teams and while the league is definitely different, I think he was talented enough to adapt to the league now if he was playing in this era. Some of you guys are complaining about his shooting percentages but not realizing that for a 4, and for a guy with the ball in his hands a lot, that was still pretty valuable during his prime years.

He fell off hard, but he was still a solid player in his prime. He just never seemed like he was in shape for an NBA player, which caught up to him.

I don't remember anyone thinking he was more than a role player that could put up volume stats if you needed him to.

Basically envision if Draymond decided he no longer wanted to play any d and put up 20 shots a game from the same spots as Steph.

32.7% Jordan.

This might actually mean something if Walker could actually score with any kind of efficiency even when he wasn't chucking up 3pters. Kobe was far more efficient on 2pt shots and got to the ft line a lot more (while actually being able to make them at a high clip) than Walker did. Walker has a pathetic career .484%ts to Kobe's .550%.

Well he was a very entertaining player imo, which is why I liked watching him play. However I'd never put him on my team as anything more then a third or forth best player on a roster.

People don't realize how good a defender and passer Walker was in Boston.

His scoring efficiency was always garbage, but that was mainly a product of the era he played in. Nobody valued shot selection back then, not even the superstars of the era.

In his lone season with the Mavs he took 305 3s and shot 27%. That was more 3s than Steve Nash and Dirk took (257 and 290). Finley took barely more with 370. Of course they all shot much much better.

I celebrated to hard when they dumped his ass.

Reporter: "Why do you shoot so many 3's?"
Antoine Walker: "Because there are no 4's." :o

This is my most vivid memory of Antoine Walker:

I also remember his signature shoes AW8 because i had a friend who wore them to our games:

Antoine has gotten underrated over the years. People focus on the chucking but for a power forward he was a great passer, solid rebounder, and could handle the ball. If he had been reigned in a little bit with his shooting and upped his efficiency then he would have been a very solid 18/10/5 kind of player. I'm also going to throw him a compliment as being a great leader and playing with passion, at least when he was a Celtic. When he left the biggest issue was that Pierce wasn't ready to be a leader and he needed 'Toine.

Obviously he had some big negatives. His shot selection was really poor, although in his defense Jim O'Brien wanted both Antoine and Pierce to shoot as many 3's as possible. He was like a proto-Dantoni from a coaching perspective. He just wanted them to chuck 3's.

He was considered a chucker who couldn’t be part of winning basketball.

However, his time on the Heat obviously resulted in a title, and he was a good contributor on that team.

He declined quickly due to his body more than his style of play. He couldn’t stay in shape, even on a team that preaches fitness like the Heat.
