Soroka has been by far the best overall rookie pitcher in baseball, having given up two runs or fewer in 14 of his 20 starts. His off-speed pitches, in particular, have been dominating. Heading into his last start, opponents were batting just .135 against his slider and .138 against his changeup. His poise and composure are that of a 10-year veteran and his command, control and late movement are his separators. He has yielded just 14 barrels to opposing batters in 374 batted balls. He has a definitive lead among National League pitchers but will have stiff competition with Pete Alonso and Fernando Tatis Jr. for the overall NL Rookie of the Year Award. It’s too bad baseball doesn’t have separate awards for rookie position players and rookie pitchers; Soroka could already clear space on his mantel for an NL Rookie Pitcher of the Year plaque.

Flowers with 2 passed balls in the 1st inning. His 13th and 14th this season. This is his 3rd game catching Keuchel and he has 1-2 passed balls each time he has caught him.
I don't care if the opposing pitcher is a lefty, Mac needs to always catch Keuchel. Period.

Braves win 6-4, scoring 5 in the 7th. No decision for Keuchel, 6 scoreless IP 2 BB 7 Ks, Greene had a clean inning.

Flowers regressed last season and has regressed more this season. I think this is his last year with Atl. Hopefully Jackson is ready, but I don't know if they trust him in a pennant race. With McCann already 35, I don't how many games they can rely on him for. Maybe they should test out Jackson as much as they can now - to at least see what they have, because if they don't think he can start, they probably need to acquire a starting catcher at some point for next season.

This is not what we needed with the Dodgers on deck. We did not need to gas the pen. Tomlin coming in, hopefully he can give us 3 + innings.

Mets won 10-8. Julio allowed 6 runs in 1.1 IP, Tomlin allowed 4 in 5 IP. Braves tried to win it late, scoring 5 runs after the 7th, but it wasn't enough. Joyce and Acuna hit a HR, Freeman and Donaldson both hit 2 HRs.

Nats and Philly won, Braves lead is 5.5 games.

So, Camargo was optioned to AAA to make room for Adeiny Hechavarria, who was released by the Mets when they got Panic. It's been a real bad season for Camargo, but I'm still a bit surprised - a Mets reject probably isn't any better. But this gives Camargo a chance to play every day and get himself straightened out - might be the best thing for him in the long run. In hindsight, Braves probably should have traded him after they signed Donaldson, but they figured they needed insurance - can't blame them for keeping him. And maybe things work out, and he rehabs his value. Funny - today's morning Atlanta Constitution had an article saying the Braves were sticking with Camargo. Somebody held that poor writer up to dry, lol.
