Mark Schanowski will no longer host pre and postgames UPDATE: Jason Goff taking over

Post#1 » by Evil_Headband » Sat Aug 17, 2019 11:38 am

When NBC Sports Chicago carries the Bulls’ entire 82-game regular-season schedule of games, it will do so without stalwart Mark Schanowski as its pregame and postgame host.
There is no word yet on a successor.

Schanowski, 62, plans to remain a leading Bulls content contributor the channel’s many platforms, including NBCSportsChicago.com and its MyTeams app with “Bulls Talk” podcasts and TV specials.
"After nearly 30 years of covering Chicago sports and 35-plus years in the television news business, I will be taking a reduced role with NBC Sports Chicago going forward to be able to enjoy more time with family and friends,” Schanowski said in a statement.

I’ve really enjoyed Mark over the years. It’s a big loss. But, I hope he enjoys his semi-retirement!

Guy is 62, I had no clue. I've watched him over the years and always figured he was younger, can't blame him for wanting more me time. Enjoy the time off Mark.
KC: Do you still think you're a championship-caliber team?
Gar: I never said that and correct me if I'm wrong.
KC: You were asked that question at the news conference announcing Thibodeau's dismissal and you answered yes

Yea he’s the youngest looking 60 year old I’ve ever seen or the makeup department does a killer job making him look young.

The duo of Mark and Kendall has been a comforting and familiar sight for a long time, shame to see it's ending

I like him well enough not to criticize him for sure but I'm ready for a fresh face. Definitely OK to move on from Perdue and Gill too, neither of whom I'm a fan of at all.

Probably the best, most knowledgable and in touch bulls commentator on tv. Wouldnt be suprised at all if he reads here, but if not it's amazing how in sync his comments/views are with the board.

Big loss for the broadcast.

Mark is 60? I would never guessed. I dont know, while change isnt always great. I feel Bulls need complete overhaul on all Bulls broadcast platforms. From live game commentary to pre and post games. While I love listen old guys and stories from 90's sometimes, this doesnt necessary includes Mark. Those should really be podcasts commentary. I wish we would have modern broadcasting in 2019 with young fresh blood. Some who dont necessary "love" Bulls ownership or front office, neutrals who know way of modern basketball beside just shoot more 3's because "that's what game is today".

And who are really excited about current Bulls, future Bulls and who can actually grew with this young team.

Definitely a loss. I've really grown to appreciate his demeanor over the years. Hopefully they get someone as good to replace him.

But seriously? 62? That was shocking. I would have guessed he was a solid decade (or more) younger. Clean living, I guess.

That's a shame. I enjoy his work during pre and post games, and his podcasts are pretty good too.

Mark's pre and post game was the main reason I watched Bull's coverage last season.

Schanowski isn’t an analyst, but doesn’t hesitate to voice his opinions on what he sees. Hope they replace him with more than a talking head.

Goff got let go from the score a couple years back and landed with ESPN radio. He probably wanted to be back covering Chicago sports again.
