lol. Raps board has been very reasonable.

We shouldn't be so harsh on Raptors fans. The Philly fans disappeared once Simmons was picked, but up until that point it was all about how hated he was and how it was crime that Simmons was still on the board. Same thing with Doncic before and his stans.

The only consistent argument has been that people will stan for their favorite players.

True. This looks more like Stan competition with very little consistency in argumentation. Oh well...

edit: just for the record I still have not given a vote for Mitchell... I'm just noting how votes get brigaded by sub-forums of the respective teams.

I also haven't cast a vote for Mitchell. I've mostly been advocating for players I don't vote for, because the arguments against them make no sense and have no consistency. Stats matter, but only for certain players. If you use them for others, you need to check yourself and not rely on them so much. Also, using the aging curve is a hot take and it's only ok for certain people to speculate on potential development.

Not sure if the "RaPs fAnS hiJaCkeD tHe PoLL" talk is justified, considering many non-Raps fans, including myself, have made posts declaring that they voted for Lowry.

Could see an argument for Paul or Lowry. Paul's teams just awful tho, and I do not see Paul putting up great numbers (advanced/traditional) with offensive talent around him. He's too old and OKC is way too awful.

I don't think Lowry is a ridiculous choice for this. Not who I would have picked, but he's certainly on the bubble, and statistically "better" than most other options were last year. I am projecting a big bump in efficiency and productivity for Mitchell, but ... that might not happen.

Does it occur to you the possibility that people who weren't voting for Simmons and Mitchell but someone else (like Siakam) voted for Lowry this time? That's what happened in my case. I didn't vote for Simmons and I have yet to vote for Mitchell.

Raps fans coming into the picture may have played a role, but it's inaccurate to act like it tells the whole story.

Lowry was tied for 5th with 11 votes the last poll, and suddenly leads the next one with 99 votes (and counting). It's no coincident that the moment a Raptors player is chosen, the other Raps player gets an unbelievable jump in votes.
If you pay attention to the voting pattern in this project, the #2 voted player in a vote always gets picked in the next poll (exceptions: the injured Durant, and Jrue Holiday after a very close poll).
This is no co-incident and it's a little sad to see how a fanbase manipulates a very intriguing project.

Clearly a TOP20 player with those stats at 22yr old? Isn't there other 22 or younger players that put up those stats or even better during that time period?

Neither Siakam or Lowry are top 25, but obviously we have a lot of Raptor fans here, lol.

 winning the title with one top 25 player.

I would have thought the exposure in the playoffs would have opened people's eyes to Siakam but especially Lowry. He ain't flashy, but he does whatever it takes to win.

There's a reason we've won 48+ games every year for the past 6 years. Lowry is that reason.

This wasn't a typical title team as you well know. Beating the most Injured team in finals history was great luck for you, but it doesn't make Siakam and Lowry better players.

Also, what Lowry did six years ago doesn't matter. He WAS a top 25 player at one point, but not any more. This is all based on what we think they will do next year, if it was based on what they did last year, Durant and Klay would be in. So the 'championship team' argument doesn't matter unless you think they will win the title next year.

If you are talking about Devin Booker, there is a significant difference between 25-5-5 stats playing for 32-13 team (Utah since January has 3rd best record in NBA), and playing for 10-34 team (Phoenix has since January 2nd worst record in NBA).

Okay? Those are all speculative in nature. While I appreciate the hot take, you really can't back any of this up.

It's a hot take and speculative to say that players improve as they approach 23 and get worse as they approach 33? Go back and look at NBA history. We can use the guy in your avatar, Reggie Miller, as an example:

Miller at 22: 14 PER, 0.6 BPM
Miller at 23: 15.7 PER, 2.3 BPM

Miller at 32: 19.8 PER, 4.3 BPM
Miller at 33: 18.7 PER, 3.5 BPM

I can provide more examples if you like. The point is players who don't improve when they're 23 and don't decline when they're 33 are the exception to the rule.

EDIT: noticed your avatar is photoshopped and that's not Reggie Miller's face. The point still stands.

Didn't Trae Young average 25-5-9 in that time as a 20 yr?

If you want to point out Booker, are we really comparing the rosters around them, or are you insinuating that Mitchell carried them to that record all by himself and therefore...?

I voted CP3 but I could definitely see Lowry. I kind of see them as very similar, I just think CP3 was sharing a role and took a hit to his stats but that will change next season.
