What did he do to the ankle? He's now off the team because of the injury. That doesn't sound like just a "sore" ankle to me. Is this the same one that gave him trouble at the end of last year?

The report I saw on YouTube said that he played fine in the game but his ankle swelled the next day. They don’t really think it is serious but they cut him for precautionary reasons

I watched the game and didn't see him favoring it.... at least not obviously.

I thought it was assumed that it was a pseudo injury to allow them to get the roster to 12 without having to embarrass Kuz by cutting him.

Yeah they cut him but didn't want to embarrass him.

Then they lost and embarrassed themselves.

Kuzma was better than a few players that made it

Pops would rather have his boy White than Kuz. Even preferred Brown, I guess he likes colors in his team oh well.

Ive seen these international games a plenty. The mistakes we make when losing are always the same ones. International teams have shooters, meanwhile, USA goes on huge scoring droughts. So we can always have an emphasis on defense, like pops wants to do, but that type of style always leads to scoring droughts. Thats when the international shooting teams make their runs.
Which means Kuzma would be perfect on a team that doesnt have many pure shooters. Big mistake in not keeping Kuz. But staying with a guy like a brown for example. Because brown will brick and brick shots when.points are needed.

I'm glad Kuz is not on Team USA anymore.
Pop can have his guy. And Kuz can come back and rest and get ready for the season.

Kuz was doing with team USA, what he always does... He gets flaming hot early, pours in a ton of points, then goes cold and doesn't do a whole lot the rest of the game, resulting in a net - +/-...
Pop was giving him lots of minutes, he just wasn't doing enough with them and his off ball D is still and issue.

But I'm kind of glad he isn't playing also. We really need him healthy off the bench for us this season. Unless we get Iggy, he's our main scoring punch off the bench.

Judging by his in-game shooting form with team USA, Kuzma’s three point form looks significantly improved since last season. Nicer arch, higher release, better balance, less flying elbow. I’m thrilled about the possibilities if he locks it in from range. What if he knocks his threes down at 38-40% from now on? I know, stats suggest improving by that much is super improbable bla bla. But what if? We’d be extremely hard to beat. Gut feeling.

Gut feeling also says to worry about his defense for another year or so. What I want to see from him is full effort on defense. Mistakes are fine, but anything less than full effort and focus on defense is never okay with me.

Again, our third star.

What's the best PG we can get if he is packaged with KCP and other short term salaries?

Lonzo

Lonzo has more rap songs on Spotify at 21 than he made free throws last year, 20

Lonzo has missed half his nba games .

KCP also can veto any trade still and going from him to Lonzo, let alone Kuz to Lonzo is a downgrade based on availability alone

I thought you might've been exaggerating about Ball so I went and look it up... dude has seriously only made 52 free throws in his 2 year career. The amount he's made is as abysmal as the amount he's attempted. I'd be most concerned about our depth if we make any trade. Given how little most of our rotation guys make, i'm guessing we'd likely have to send out more players than we receive in a given trade.

Best for KCP straight up is Augustin.

Best when packaged with Kuz is Bledsoe.

But there would be better targets with Kuz and KCP. I'd go for Covington and more with that package.

Also what will the Spurs do with both Murray and White? I'd trade Kuzma straight up for one of them.

Augustin is too depressing and Bledsoe is a bigger drag and not the age group I was looking for. Does a Kuz + salary for Dinwiddie trade make sense for Brooklyn? Harris is up for a new deal and they could use some scoring until Durant returns.
