Doing so wont give us cap room to sign anyone.

Reggies expiring for;
Gorgui Dieng $16,229,213 $17,287,640
Dennis Shroeder $15,500,000 $15,500,000
James Johnson $15,107,400 $15,794,100
Cody Zeller $14,471,910 $15,415,730
Evan Fournier $17,000,000 $17,000,000
Tim Hardaway Jr $18,150,000 $18,975,000

RJ+LG expirings for;
Batum $25,565,217 $27,130,434

Great idea. Pistons have to rely on their picks to play minutes. Bruce Brown, Khyri, Svi was brought in, some promise in the guy on the two way contract Hall? maybe.

Get ride of reggie and get the most assets possible.

Same with Blake and Drummond. But thats another thing entirely.

Problem is, are any of those teams willing to give draft picks. None are good teams.

Where is James Johnson, Heat?

Ya hes on the Heat.

I would think our best chance at getting multiple firsts would be taking on Wiggins for expirings.

I'm as skeptical about Thon as you guys probably are, but this was an awesome article. Thon and Lawley basically hit the nail on the head about where he's at, what he needs to work on, what his limitations are, etc. He's a hard worker, hopefully he comes in strong this season.

Looks like Thon is quite an attitude upgrade from Stanley. If Maker can make some steps forward it opens up a lot of possibilities with the bigs. Hope his hard work pays off.

Thon's got an awesome attitude, and an awesome work ethic. My only concern is that some of his issues maybe things that he can't change.. bad hands, awkward gait, high/thin hips=center of gravity, naturally thin physique, lankiness accentuates what looks to be a poor level of coordination with the ball in hand at NBA level, etc.

I go back and watch his HS clips once in a blue moon and they almost fool me again, feels like a different guy. The lack of strength and stuff is evident, but he looks so fluid grabbing and going, dunking, and making plays with the ball in his hands.

With the additions of Sekou (SF/PF), Beasley (SF/PF), Markieff (PF/C), and Wood (PF/C) I don't see Maker getting regular rotation minutes. He is pretty much injury insurance at this point and will be spending the season trying to battle those 4 guys for back up minutes and most likely losing out to them.

I dunno. Sekou is only 18. Cant see him playing at all. I would think Wood would be the injury insurance and Beasley being Snells backup at SF.
I think Thon and Morris will be our main backup bigs

All Thon's gotta do is hit the three at 38+% and play smart team defense. If he can do that he'll stick in the league.

You could be right. We will have to wait and see. Personally, I want to see Sekou start at SF. I know he will be super raw but I think he can at least bring what Brown brought last season while being able to develop at the same time. As far as Maker, I think he will be battling with Wood for center minutes and I give a slight edge to Wood.

Maybe we've ended the cycle of picking up guys that are ready to retire or be released. Nice that we actually have some under 25 players with an upside.

Jose Calderon is still on the market though...hope he stays there.

That’s a hard call but I’d personally pass and keep Luke.

Joe Harris is definitely better and more confident now but Luke has way more upside.

With the position that the Pistons are in, I believe they need to gamble with the higher potential in every scenario like this.

Luke was really coming on strong at the end of the season and the few playoff games. If he can build on that, he can fill an important role from the team.

Luke’s age and rookie contract with team control are definitely reasons to hold onto him as well.

Yeah, pretty much this. Harris is more proven but Kennard has more potential with his playmaking, ball handling, and getting his own shot. I see Harris as Kennard's floor and I think he is going to be at least on par with Harris this upcoming season.

I would pass on Johnson. We need more help at SF so I give Beasley the edge. I don't think Johnson is going to be any better than Galloway, who actually had a decent season for us last year. Also, I would rather just give Thomas a chance.
