Wow! 19 TO's, almost twice as many as we commited per game so far but free throws saved us! I think before the game we were dead or second last and only one miss in such important game. Just wow.

Now GO USA! Don't you dare to screw us!

In any case, congrats to the Czech Republic. They did what they had to do and they gave themselves a great shot at advancing to the quarter finals, provided that the US beats Brazil. If they advance then they definitely deserve respect for their achievement. They have played some beautiful basketball so far.

Tall people have a huge advantage in sports so they are more likely to pursue it from an early age. Its much easier to become a pro when you are 7ft tall than if you are 6ft2 in sports where height is an advantage.

You see giant people in handball and voleyball quite regularly so its not only in basketball. The theory that playing basketball somehow makes you taller is laughable.

It's not laughable at all, it's scientifically proved. Handball and Volleyball are similar sports to basketball. It's laughable that you believe that all tall people are talented for sports. If you don't, then why don't we see many 6'8'' guys among regular people, let alone 7 footers. I guess they all play sports, what a coincidence!

How many big basketball players are you meeting in your private life? My guess is not many. And there you have your answer. ;)

Explain that science to me then. And I know a lot of tall people who played sports but failed, because they werent talented enough or tall people who didnt play sports at all.

well yeah... but in Europe his athleticism is a huge advantage and still he was trash during the main part of his career.
I just don't see him playing minutes in NBA tbh.

What is this?! Do I need a brain surgeon or what is going on here?

I believe the theory here is your body adjusts to its environment. I shall test it on my children. I will build a house with 3 metre high doors and the handles at 2 metres. Toilet seat will be a metre from the ground. Kitchen sinks will be at 2.5 metres high.

Not a bad investment I guess. They should be about 9ft by the time they've finished growing.

That's the point, we don't see many basketball players, but we see many regular people, and the tallest people I can remember seeing that were not basketball players are two guys who were both about 6'8''. The tallest person I can remember walking by is Damir Markota, Croatian basketball player who played for the Milwauke Bucks one year. He is about 6'10'', and I saw him at the airport when I was a kid, it was ridiculous how much he was towering over everybody.

Also, from my personal experience, I know several people that didn't have tall parents and started playing basketball or volleyball in young age and they really grow up tall

The point is that not many people are taller than 6’8”, so normally very tall people have big advantages playing basketball. They’re playing basketball because they are tall and not vice versa.

He is not supposed to prove anything, you are making an absurd claim and you are supposed to prove it. It's not that I claim for Aliens to walk between us and you are supposed to give me a proof that they are not.

Also, he has plenty of reasons to feel smarter, given that in 2019 there still are people believing completely idiotic things like "basketball makes you taller". Stupidity doesn't deserve respect after a certain point, he's been far too polite. Just study, Jesus.

How do u know that... Lot of people start playing basketball in very young age when they are not tall, but you don't see a lot of short basketball players.. of course, there is a selection later on, but is there any particular reason u claim basketball is not making u taller

Don't know about basketball, but it's a scientific fact that swimming when young makes you taller, there's been a study. I would think basketball makes you taller too, just not as much as swimming I guess.

it's very strange, I guess you can do anything in your life, and your height and other physical characteristics will always be the same. Interesting. I regret even starting this conversation lol. Especially when I see this pumpkin dude comparing theory that basketball enhances growth to aliens walking amongst us, and then calling people stupid.
