George is a better passer and defender then Melo. Both Butler and George are better then Melo.

George is barely a better passer, and his defense has certainly slipped since his offensive load has increased. George's offensive value still is less than what Prime Carmelo provided, and the scoring isn't close at all.

Even with slipping defense, his defense blows Melo out of the water.

KG
Pierce
Wade
Lebron
Durant
Kobe
Ginobili
TD
Dirk
Pau Gasol
CP3
Yao
Tmac
Vince
Billups
Derrick Rose
Dwight
Arenas
Derrick Williams

Late prime, I don't think he makes the top 20.

This Poll was posted in 2017...?
Paul George was just 26 years old that season.

Lets see where things are after 2020.

Man I know Melo finished top 3 in MVP, but the season Paul George had up until the shoulder injuries might've been a more dominant in totality than Melo in 2013. His combined defense and scoring were pretty outrageous as a wing
LeBron's NBA Cup MVP is more valuable than either of KD's Finals MVPs. This is the word of the Lord

My answer would have been PG even before last season. Carmelo was never even close to as good a player as PG last season, even if he had more talent.

yea its not really that close anymore...

PG and melo offensively aren't that far apart. Factor in defense? The answer is obvious

In 2009, Carmelo was scoring 28 ppg on 2.7 3s per game. Shooting 10 for 21 from the field.

I think its hard to definitely say that PG's offense is close since he benefits a lot from the modern NBA which emphasizes Efficiency and 3 point shooting. I believe that a teleported Carmelo would be scoring better than his prime years since he had all the tools and was a solid 3 point shooter.

I'd rather have George as my second best player than Melo as my best player. Neither is really suited to lead a team title, so then it is a question of who you'd rather have in a support role.

Paul George doesn't hold a candle to Jimmy Butler is a weird statement, even if you consider Jimmy Butler to be better, he can only be better by 1-2 spots since Jimmy himself was a borderline top 10 player at best, and was never inside of top 5.

His season was derailed by injury, true, but PG has always been hot and cold with his shooting, so it's hard for me to believe that he could have sustained that level of scoring, which would have been an extreme outlier given his career.

I rather have peak Melo easily much more dynamic player, and I love 2 way players like PG. These last couple years really hurt Melo's rep, shame.

These are two of my all time favorite players and I can confidently say that Melo was a better offensive player and was significantly more clutch.

I’d take Melo during his best over George. I used to watch every Nuggets game because he was so talented.
