Chi - Mia - mem ( iggy to Mia)

Post#1 » by scottyg » Tue Sep 10, 2019 10:32 pm

Chi trades- Kris Dunn +2020 2nd rd pick

Chi gets - Jae Crowder

Why? Get rid of their gut of for a good role player and player who can play multiple positions

Mem trades- Iggy + Jae Crowder

Mem gets - Dion Waiters + Meyers Leonard + future 2nd rd pick from Mia and 2020 2nd rd pick via Chicago

Why ? They get 2 younger players who can fit their time line better and positions of need and get a little draft capital

Mia trades - Meyers Leonard + Dion Waiters + future 2nd

Mia gets - Iggy + Kris Dunn

Why ? They get a defensive young PG in Dunn and get the playoff exp and defense in IGGY and she’d more salary for next year !

Miami does this trade without thinking twice. Iggy would be great for the team, and Kris Dunn can play off the bench. I don't see why Memphis does this deal though. They already say they don't want to facilitate Iggy's exit. I doubt if this is good enough for Chicago. Why are they adding a pick?

This looks bad for Memphis. Just taking back a 2nd year of Waiters should get them something, and the upgrade from Waiters to Iggy should get them something more.

Not taking Waiters 2nd year for some future 2nd. It would require a 1st.

Chicago's adding a pick because Crowder's a better player and a better fit for Chicago. I actually thought they were doing too well but on 2nd though this really is a 2nd round pick level of upgrade.

I don't think even Chris Wallace would do that trade.

Yeah, that's not worth it. Maybe we can get Iggy after the inevitable buyout, but he'll probably head to the Clippers, Rockets, or Lakers. Oh well.

There is a lot of different versions of this trade that could work,

Chi gets - Iggy

Mem gets - Johnson + Felicio + lottery protected 1st rd pick via Chicago + 2nd rd pick via Mia

Miami gets - Crowder + Dunn

Because your team is getting a great deal by only having to send out a second round pick to dump Waiter's $12,650,000 for next season.

Change waiters to dragic, and it's closer. But Memphis still doesn't want a couple of second-rounders for Iggy, or they would probably have already traded him. They are waiting for someone to offer up a first-rounder.

Memphis is getting annihilated. Miami's benchwarmers are not assets. especially not Waiters who is also a cap liability past this season

So Memphis got a 1st rounder for taking on Iggy and his 17 million, and are now expecting a 1st rounder for him? Why would anyone expect that to happen?

That's the issue. Iggy's good but given his minutes limitations he's also overpaid. So to get rebuild value back they need to take a worse contract back and many good teams don't have that. (though with Waiters and Johnson Miami does - getting a 1st back for Memphis probably means taking a multi-year contract back).

Also many contenders are already out 1st round picks - likely making them reluctant to deal more future 1sts for a side piece.

Thats really weird to have Waiters going to Memphis. A Dragic trade would be much simpler.

Bulls do that in a heartbeat. Even without Dunn they have too many PGs on the roster and Crowder would seem like a good backup to Porter and they could both spell Markkanen at the 4 or play alongside Young. Why the other teams want to deal, I don't know.

Obviously, Miami has to do this, and I think Chicago would be smart to participate, but I don't get it for Memphis. Waiters isn't an asset at this point and, in fact, would need value attached to him in order to move him. So Memphis gives up two good players and takes on an extra year of salary for 2 second round picks? I'm not seeing that for them...

I would trade Dragic for Iggy. I've offered to before. ;-)

Memphis would place no value in having Dragic so you would need to send draft incentive to make it happen. Or make it a three way with someone who values Dragic and can send Memphis a more useless expiring and a pick.

Seems doable. Like Dallas swapping Lee/2nd to Memphis for Dragic and Iggy going to Miami. However Dallas may prefer Iggy too though.
