FIBA World Cup 2019

Post#1 » by Jaivl » Wed Sep 11, 2019 8:55 am

The International Board is dead, so I hope the mods let this one pass.

QFs:

Spoiler:
Argentina vs Serbia
Spain vs Poland
USA vs France
Australia vs Czech Republic

SFs:

Spoiler:
Argentina vs USA/France
Spain vs Australia/Czech Republic

Any thoughts?

Bogdanovic (the Serbian one), Ricky Rubio, Patty Mills and Real Madrid's Facundo Campazzo have probably been the MVPs for now.

Also very strong showings from NBA guys like Ingles or the bulk of Team USA (except for Barnes, ugh).

Jokic and Giannis dissappointed big, big time.

I think it's leading to a english-speaking final and a spanish-speaking bronze, but who knows. FIBA basketball is nuts and both Spain (even with big absences) and Argentina are WAY more experienced, which has proved crucial for now.

I wished the best for Serbia, but they failed.

I am also proud of my Poland team, nobody expected them to play so well (even against Spain).

Now I hope that France will beat USA.

Also, Campazzo is one of the best playmakers I've seen for a long time. Amazing player to watch.

Campazzo is a beast, kinda reminds me of Nash. 28 already, but I hope he goes to the NBA for some time.

I know very little about the other teams, but I think Team USA will win it all

I'm American, of course

I’d give Tomaš Satoransky some love as an HM for MVP as well. He has been brilliant and Czech Republic had no business making it this far.

I said after the game against Greece that he is my MVP so far, but after Mills' performance against France, and everythign he has shown so far, it's hard to put anyone ahead of him. Campazzo and Rubio are other candidates aswell.

They’ve been winning by overwhelming teams with athleticism thus far and playing without a center mostly. Same story as previous tourneys, but this team doesn’t have a Durant or Kyrie 1A type scorer previous ones did. They’re very beatable.

Road just got a lot easier with Serbia knocked out and they’re favorites but could easily lose in the Final to Spain or Oz.

Hell, France has a chance as well.

I don’t know what the hell went on with Giannis this tourney by the way. There must have been some weird team dynamics. He was benched for the whole 4th quarter of the USA game after having a horrible showing against Brazil. Just strange.

He is not a skilled plyer and he has to rely on NBA "rules" to be a star.

Pop's rotations were off all tournament. Bummed the US lost, but looked pretty good as a Jazz fan.

Gobert was a monster, definitely MVP of the game.

Yeah good luck to whoever matches with USA at the Tokyo Olympics. After this embarrasing performance I'm guessing **** is gonna get real.

Hope USA goes with the best team for the olympics. Would be fun to watch LBJ, AD, Kawih, Steph, Durant, Klay, James Harden all on the same team for the olympics.

Of course it would be funny for the Portuguese, y'all won't have to play against them!
